Bellator returned Friday from a more than month-long hiatus with Bellator 201, which took place at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, Calif., and aired on Paramount following prelims streamed on MMAjunkie. In the main event, Ilima-Lei Macfarlane (8-0 MMA, 7-0 BMMA) continued to build her case as perhaps the best female fighter on the Bellator roster when she came out on the winning end of an entertaining fight with Alejandra Lara (7-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) to defend her flyweight title for the first time with a third-round armbar submission.
