Winning the ESPN award for “Upset of the Year” at this past week’s award show, Holm (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC), who tops Saturday’s UFC on FOX 20 fight card against Valentina Shevchenko (12-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), chose to stay back in Albuquerque, N.M., to finish up her training camp at Jackson-Wink MMA rather than celebrate her high-profile 2015 win over Ronda Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC). She is, after all, focused on a comeback after losing the title to Miesha Tate at UFC 196. “I did not go to the ceremony,” said Holm, who headlines this weekend’s FOX-televised event at United Center in Chicago. ” … (There was) the fact of just leaving and then mentally feeling like, ‘Oh, I should be home training’ kind of mental thing about it. If I lose the fight, then I’m not going to care about the award.
