Almost immediately after Davis (9-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) volunteered to replace Yair Rodriguez (10-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) at UFC 228, he got a text from his coach asking if he was serious. Davis didn’t think about Magomedsharipov’s (15-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) status as one of the sport’s brightest up-and-comers. He simply wanted a fight.
