NEW YORK – Nate Diaz failed in his opportunity to become the inaugural “BMF” champion on Saturday when he lost to Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 244. The welterweight headliner, which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York, was called off after the third round when the cageside doctor determined Diaz (20-12 MMA, 15-10 UFC) could not continue due to multiple cuts on his face. Masvidal (35-13 MMA, 12-6 UFC) was declared the winner by TKO , and afterward there was an immediate push from Diaz to get a rematch.
