But nine years after suffering her first pro MMA loss by a vicious head kick, Tate still remembers the sting of such a devastating defeat. “I got my head kicked off,” recounted Tate (18-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC), who will attempt the first defense of her title on July 9. “It was just one of those things. It broke my heart honestly, … but I felt like I could learn from it and I could get better.
