According to Gastelum, pretty damn valuable. During this past Saturday’s UFC 200 event at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, Gastelum (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) picked up a pretty clear-cut unanimous-decision win over Hendricks (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) in an FS1-televised preliminary-card bout. “Obviously, a win over Johny, man, I think it puts my right back there in conversations to fight for a No. 1 contendership and fight for the title eventually,” said Gastelum, who recently dropped out of the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA welterweight rankings following a 1-2 skid that included split-decision defeats to upcoming title challenger Tyron Woodley and vet Neil Magny. Gastelum’s fight against Hendricks actually took place at a catchweight of 171.25 pounds after the ex-champ narrowly missed the 171-pound limit.
