Volkan Oezdemir often travels around quite a bit for training, and this camp, he paid a visit to an old friend. In fact, that friend happens to be the one who actually got him started in fighting, as Oezdemir credits combat sports legend Alistair Overeem for kickstarting his fighting career. He spent some time training with Overeem this camp in Thailand and recalls the first time he started training with him, before he started his MMA career. “He’s been the guy that I kind of started my fighting with,” Oezdemir told MMA Junkie. “Because before meeting him, I was doing this for fun, and then I really started to fight because of him, so it was good to train with him again.
