The UFC debuts on FOX Sports 1 next month the same day the new cable network debuts on Aug. 17. In anticipation of the UFC’s new cable home after a year and a half on FX and FUEL TV, FOX Sports 1 on Tuesday will debut a new commercial during Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game on FOX. UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre recently filmed that commercial, and now you can go behind the scenes on the set to see how things went down ahead of the spot’s Tuesday premiere. St-Pierre, who in November defends his title against Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in Las Vegas, said that while he may have plenty of success in the octagon, his acting might leave a little to be desired.

Even at the top levels of MMA, fighters must do more than fight to maintain a living. For UFC women’s 135-pound veteran Julie “Fireball” Kedzie , she’s been able to supplement her income with acting and stunt work. Most recently, Kedzie appeared on the June 24 edition of A&E’s hit series Longmire. She portrayed, what else, but an MMA fighter in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo along with fellow Jackson’s MMA fighters Jodie Esquibel and reigning Invicta FC 105-pound champion Michelle “Karate Hottie” Waterson. “I’ve done a couple of stunt roles before and I’m SAG (Screen Actors Guild) now and am working within the New Mexico community mostly,” said Kedzie. “It was a great experience and was very, very different from real fighting. “It’s kind of nerve-wrecking when you don’t get it right because then you have to do it again. You’re not supposed to make contact with the other person, and I want to punch people in the face for real.

Steve Carl (19-3) sees a big gap between himself and his upcoming opponent, Tyson Steele (10-1), if his experience in the sport is any indication. “When I had his record, my mental ability wasn’t 10 percent of what it is now,” Carl told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “If his mental (ability) is more built up, hey, more power to him. But I know when I was in his situation, I wasn’t ready to fight somebody like me.” The World Series of Fighting welterweights meet in the co-main event of WSOF 3, which takes place tonight at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. After ‘acting like an amateur,’ Ryan Jimmo ready to redeem himself at UFC 161

On one hand, Canadian light-heavyweight Ryan Jimmo believes he made a mistake in fighting James Te Huna at UFC on FUEL TV 7. On the other, he believes it would have been a mistake not to fight. Jimmo (17-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), who on Saturday meets Igor Pokrajac (25-9 MMA, 4-4 UFC) at UFC 161, told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that he “literally didn’t have a leg to stand on” when he fought the Australiian this past February following a career-highlight knockout of Anthony Perosh that catapulted him to stardom. After three rounds with Te Huna, Jimmo lost a unanimous decision and was forced back to the drawing board. “I acted like an amateur by choosing to go ahead,” he said. “I’ve done it before and come out on top. Not that night. Te Huna’s got a hard head.
