Dern (5-0), a 24-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and world-champion grappler, continued an undefeated start to her MMA career with a third-round submission victor y over Kaline Medeiros (8-6). The fight, which streamed on UFC Fight Pass from Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo., expectedly featured some grappling, but Dern, an LFA vet who turned pro just 16 months ago, also displayed some much-improved striking. Agnieszka Niedzwiedz didn’t make it easy, but there was simply no getting rid of 125-pound champion Jennifer Maia in the headlining affair of Friday’s Invicta FC 26. It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Maia (15-4-1), who was knocked down a couple of times by a perpetually unbothered Niedzwiedz (10-1). But, while Niedzwiedz herself stayed in the fight until the final bell, Maia was ultimately the fresher fighter as the fight advanced into the championship rounds. Maia’s ability to recover from danger and the late rally, paired with her efficient striking, did the trick. With across-the-board 49-46, 49-46 and 49-46 scores, Maia defended the 125-pound title she’s held since 2016. As a bonus, she had her post-fight interviewed translated by none other than the UFC women’s bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes.

That conquest, of course, excites her, but for reasons beyond the shiny object she’ll get to show for it.

Invicta FC 26 takes place Dec. 8 at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. The card had been expected to take place Nov. 30 at Park Theater in Las Vegas

Polish prospect Agnieszka Niedzwiedz (10-0) remained undefeated, earning a hard-fought decision win over Vanessa Porto (18-8). The flyweight scrap headlined Friday’s Invicta FC 23 event, which took place at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. The entire card streamed live on UFC Fight Pass. Porto found success on her feet early, setting the pace with her punches and leaving Niedzwiedz looking a bit uncomfortable. The action transitioned to the floor later in the frame, and Niedzwiedz threatened with a guillotine, but Porto patiently worked herself free. As the action returned to the feet, Niedzwiedz shot in with a beautifully quick takedown and then ended the round hunting for an anaconda choke that wouldn’t come before the bell

Filed under: News , Videos Invicta FC flyweight Agnieszka Niedzwiedz would love to make the transition to the UFC, but it won’t be through the upcoming 26th season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Niedzwiedz (9-0) headlines tonight’s Invicta FC 23 event opposite Brazilian veteran Vanessa Porto (18-7) while looking to further solidify her undefeated, promising name. Win or lose, however, don’t expect the Polish up-and-comer to audition for “The Ultimate Fighter” season that will crown the UFC’s first women’s 125-pound champion . “I’m not going to be part of ‘TUF,’” Niedzwiedz told interviewer Laura Sanko ahead of the UFC Fight Pass-streamed card at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. “I have a little kid at home, so I don’t want to leave him for such a long time. I want a normal contract with the UFC, and normal fights, and if they can get a champion and I can fight with them, it will be better for me.” At 22, Niedzwiedz already boasts an impressive resume as she heads into her second Invicta FC bout. While wrestling is her main strength, the Polish prospect clearly has some finishing instincts; she’s either knocked out or submitted seven of her previous nine opponents.

Mere days from the women of Invicta FC 18 stepping into the cage, the card has undergone a pair of significant changes. The event takes place Friday at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. The card will stream live on UFC Fight Pass. The card will be headlined by strawweights Alexa Grasso (7-0) and Jodie Esquibel (5-1). Agnieszka Niedzwiedz (7-0) was set to meet Claudia Rey (6-0) in the evening’s co-main event.

Invicta FC was targeting July 29 for its next event, and was hoping Cristiane Justino would headline. But despite leaving a spot open for “Cyborg,” as of now the promotion’s featherweight champ isn’t on the card. Instead, strawweights Alexa Grasso (7-0) and Jodie Esquibel (5-1) will headline Invicta FC 18, the promotion recently announced. Alexa Grasso Invicta FC 18 will take place July 29 from Scottish Rite Temple, in Kansas City, Kan. Scottish Rite Temple has been on the National Register of Historic Places for more than 30 years
