Ricky Bandejas, Khonry Gracie get opponents for Bellator 225 prelims

A pair of notable names have been added to Bellator 225’s preliminary card. Former interim CFFC champ Ricky Bandejas will return to the Bellator cage to take on LFA notable Ahmet Kayretli in a bantamweight matchup. Additionally, Khonry Gracie will collide with Oscar Vera at welterweight. A promotion official confirmed the bookings to MMA Junkie on Wednesday.

LFA 62 took place this past Friday at The Bomb Factory in Dallas and aired on AXS TV. In the main event, Casey Kenney (11-1-1) made LFA history in emphatic fashion, violently claiming an interim bantamweight title to go along with his interim flyweight via first-round knockout over a previously undefeated Vince Cachero (6-1). In the night’s co-headliner, Levi Mowles (11-4) rebounded from a November loss by registering a dominant third-round stoppage over Ahmet Kayretli (8-3). Casey Kenney made LFA history, and he did it in emphatic fashion, violently claiming an interim bantamweight title to go along with his interim flyweight belt, as well. Kenney (11-1-1) earned a first-round knockout over a previously undefeated Vince Cachero (6-1) in the main event of tonight’s LFA 62 event, which aired on AXS TV from The Bomb Factory in Dallas. Kenney was aggressive to start, firing punches and kicks from all angles in a fast-paced open. Cachero was happy to fire back, but it was clear Kenney was getting the best of the exchanges.

But in the co-main event, Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Levi Mowles (10-4) and muay Thai and kickboxing standout Ahmet Kayretli (8-2, 1 NC) might have something to say about who should be in title consideration in the coming months. LFA 46 took place Friday on a military base, and the AXS TV-televised promotion brought some weirdness and drama. Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Newport News, Va., hosted the card, and the servicemen and servicewomen in attendance certainly got a show. As reported late Friday night, a fight between Mumia Abu Dey Ali (3-1) and Mitch Aguiar (1-1) ended in 31 seconds with an absolutely stupid knockout sequence. While the highlights above show most of the action that led Ali to a victory, you need to see the full fight video to truly appreciate the brief back-and-forth drama of the fight.

A new champion was crowned at Friday’s LFS 39 event, but this dislocated, flappy wing is likely what viewers will remember most. After all, you’re unlikely to forget this scene even if you wanted to. In a flyweight bout at the AXS TV-televised event, which took place at Dodson Arena in Vail, Colo., Brandon Royval (7-3) picked up a TKO win after just 40 seconds when Jerome Rivera (7-2) clearly couldn’t continue because of his mangled arm. Rivera elbow appeared to dislocate/break his elbow while trying to brace himself against the cage. Rivera tried to retreat, but his arm was left dangling beside him during the gruesome scene. After Rivera ate a subsequent head kick, the bout was merciful waved off (via Twitter ): Well this just happened at #LFA39 … @LFAfighting @brandonroyval pic.twitter.com/7QgERTvczT — AXS TV Fights (@AXSTVFights) May 5, 2018 In the main event, Ian Heinisch (10-1) knocked out Gabriel Checco (10-3) to claim the vacant middleweight title.
