Bellator 266 is in the books and although Phil Davis was the victorious half of the main event, he didn’t receive the highest disclosed payout according to the event’s commissioning body. While Davis (23-6 MMA, 10-3 BMMA) pocketed a $100,000 flat salary for his three-round split decision, his opponent Yoel Romero (13-6 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) earned $150,000 in defeat.

The lineup for next week’s Bellator return to its Northern California home base is set with the addition of four new fights on the preliminary card. Rhalan Gracie (0-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) will return to MMA for the first time since 2007 when he takes on Shane Keefe (1-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) at welterweight. Plus, Eddie Abasolo (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) meets Art Hernandez (4-5 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) in a 160-pound contract weight fight; Edwin de los Santos (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) takes on Jon Adams (0-1-1 MMA, 0-1-1 BMMA) at flyweight; and Jesse Delgado (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) fights Joshua Dillon (1-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) in a 130-pound contract weight bout. Bellator 249 video: Albert Gonzales gets elbow dislocated by armbar, still wins fight

Bellator 249 added an unforeseen new wrinkle in the “tap or snap” debate. Kastriot Xhema got Albert Gonzales in a deep armbar during the closing seconds of the second round in the evening’s first bout in Uncasville, Conn. As the seconds wound down. Xhema (3-5 MMA, 3-5 BMMA) cranked the armbar tighter. Gonzales (2-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA), for his part, never tapped, whether it was a matter of trying to ride out to the end of the round, or whether he literally wasn’t in a position to make the actual tap. Either way, Gonzales’ right elbow dislocated, the round ended, and with that, the end of the fight, because surely no competitor was going to continue with an obvious arm break.
