The U.K. promotion’s lightweight division has proved to be something of a finishing school for Europe’s best 155-pounders, with former lightweight champions Herbert, Chris Fishgold, Stevie Ray and, of course, Conor McGregor all stepping up to the UFC after capturing Cage Warriors gold. Tim Barnett said he wouldn’t be happy if he wasn’t able to finish Sean Carter in the main event of Cage Warriors 105. He didn’t get his wish, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. For three rounds, Barnett’s quick, accurate hands were on full display. But Carter (12-7) refused to go down and even brought some late danger to Barnett (7-2-1) by getting ahold of his back.

The result of the action-packed fight, which streamed live on UFC Fight Pass, was split 48-47, 48-47 and 46-48 scorecards.

Faced with Dalby’s (14-3-1) nonstop aggression, the debutant kept his cool and left no blow unanswered, showing off a wide arsenal of tools on the feet – where he even scored a knockdown with a stealth head kick – and on the ground. The battle of wills resulted in 29-27 and 29-28 scorecards on Pedersoli Jr’s favor, against a 29-28 score for Dalby

Nathaniel Wood utterly starched Marko Kovacevic with punches in the first round of Friday’s Cage Warriors 84 headliner to capture the organization’s vacant bantamweight championship. Wood (11-3) came out looking for the finish to begin the title fight with Kovacevic (9-2), which took place at Indigo at The O2 in London and streamed on UFC Fight Pass following prelims on The Sport Bible’s Facebook page. After several exchanges on the feet, Wood tagged Kovacevic with a hard shot that put him on wobbly legs. Kovacevic’s attempted to keep his wits about him, but Wood was relentless with his follow up strikes and attacked until a hard shot put Kovacevic on his back and caused the referee to step in and halt the action at 3:41 of Round 1. The finish sent the Brit’s home country fans into a frenzy and marked the first championship fight victory of the 25-year-old’s career
