But because he missed weight, the welterweight title he could have finally wrapped around his waist will have to wait. Njokuanki (12-4) was mostly dominant against Gilbert Smith (10-4), but the weigh infraction made his RFA 22 main event a non-title fight, and the vacant 170-pound strap remains up for grabs. Chidi Njokuani Chidi Njokuani won the title fight, but the belt he’s been coveting still has to wait. Because Njokuani missed weight by four pounds for his vacant welterweight title main event against Gilbert Smith , his unanimous decision win was just that – a win.

Filed under: AXS TV Fights , Featured Videos , News There’s a very good reason there was this one persistent question after Friday’s RFA 20 event: Is Luke Sanders now headed to the UFC? Sanders (9-0) dazzled in the AXS TV-televised headliner and extended his undefeated run with a title win over Jarred Mercado (12-2) at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo. Although Mercado failed to make weight and wasn’t eligible to win the vacant bantamweight title, “Cool Hand” made the most of his eligibility and earned a first-round TKO victory after landing a crushing knee. The victory, which marked the sixth knockout of Sanders’ career, prompted a post-fight interview in which the 28-year-old stumped for a shot in the UFC. And if recent history tells us anything, winning an RFA belt is likely to result in his wish being granted. In the co-headliner, welterweight Benjamin Smith (10-2) extended his winning streak to five fights after posting a dominant unanimous decision victory over local product Josh Cavan (9-5).

RFA 20 lineup takes shape with Vaughn, Robinson, Salmon and others

The main card is set for next month’s RFA 20 event, and some notable prospects and vets are part of the lineup. RFA 20 takes place Nov. 7 at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo. The main card airs live on AXS TV. As previously announced , Jarred Mercado (12-1) and Luke Sanders (8-0) meet in the headliner and fight for the organization’s vacant bantamweight title. A new addition to the card includes a light heavyweight bout between Cody Mumma (5-2), who suffered an elimination-round loss on “The Ultimate Fighter 19,” and fellow promotional newcomer Colton Vaughn (6-4), who looks for his third straight win.

Titan FC 28 results: Brilz outworks Davis, Herman tops Starnes

Brilz won for the fourth straight time, taking a split decision from Raphael Davis in the Titan FC 28 main event. Titan FC 28 took place at First Council Casino Hotel in Newkirk, Okla
