Frankie Saenz at UFC Fight Night 103 Augusto Mendes (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) proved why many consider him one to watch in the UFC bantamweight division when the grappling ace delivered a well-rounded performance to beat Frankie Saenz (11-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) by split decision in a fight where he had to overcome some adversity in the form of a knockdown.

Filed under: Featured , News , Videos How do you get choked out in a fight and still end up winning it? Welcome to Saturday’s Invicta FC 21 event. The card, which streamed on UFC Fight Pass from Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo., had plenty of memorable finishes ; the seven-bout lineup saw four knockouts and one submission finish. But it was the near-finish in the night’s second bout that left fans scratching their heads. In a strawweight clash, Celine Haga (10-14) choked out Amy Montenegro (8-2) just as their bout was coming to a conclusion, but she still lost the fight. Although Montenegro went asleep, the ref didn’t notice until the round was officially over

Invicta FC 21 results: Megan Anderson captures interim 145-pound title, calls out future UFC champ

“Hey, Dana White,” newly-crowned Invicta FC interim featherweight champion Megan Anderson called right after yet another victorious (and violent) display. “You tell Holly (Holm) and Germaine (de Randamie) to keep my belt warm, because I’m (expletive) coming for it.” The callout for the yet-to-be-crowned UFC’s first women’s featherweight champ was not exactly out of place. After all, Anderson’s (8-2) clever use of microphone time followed yet another statement-making performance – this time against a game Charmaine Tweet (9-6) in Invicta FC 21’s headlining scrap. Invicta FC 21 took place at Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo., and the entire card streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.

Eight-bout Invicta FC 21 lineup finalized with addition of 3 fights, including Andrea Lee-Jenny Liou

With the addition of three more fights, the lineup for next month’s Invicta FC 21 card now is complete. The promotion today announced flyweight fights between Andrea Lee (4-2) and Jenny Liou (6-4), as well as Christine Ferea (0-0) vs. Rachael Ostovich (3-2), plus a strawweight bout between Amy Montenegro (7-2) and Celine Haga (10-13). That completes the card with eight total bouts

Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha “The Ultimate Fighter 23: Team Joanna vs. Team Claudia” opens with a video package previewing the season of the reality show, which for the first time will feature a mix of male light-heavyweights and women’s strawweights. Coaching the teams will be UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and No. 1 contender Claudia Gadelha, who have a bitter rivalry after their UFC on FOX 13 showdown in December 2014. Jedrzejczyk won the first matchup by split decision, but a rematch will take place at the live finale on July 8. This time the title will be on the line

Cast revealed for Season 23 of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ with coaches Jedrzejczyk, Gadelha

Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha Season 23 “The Ultimate Fighter,” the UFC’s long-running reality competition, debuts in two weeks on FOX Sports 1, and today the cast was revealed. The season will feature women’s strawweight fighters and men’s light heavyweight fighters competing for coaches Joanna Jedrzejczyk , the UFC’s women’s 115-pound champion, and Claudia Gadelha , who challenges for her title in a rematch in the TUF 23 Finale main event on July 8 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The 12-episode “TUF 23” season debuts April 20 on FOX Sports 1 at 10 p.m. ET

Invicta FC 13 official with three title fights headlining, including Justino vs. Van Duin

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino International Fight Week has added three more title fights as Invicta FC 13 will see the atomweight, bantamweight and featherweight titles all put on the line. The card was originally announced for July 10 in Las Vegas, one day ahead of UFC 189, also in Las Vegas. However, Invicta FC announced via press release that the event will now take place on July 9. Cristiane Justino (13-1) will defend her featherweight championship in the main event when she takes on Faith Van Duin (5-1). Van Duin made her Invicta FC debut in April, submitting Amanda Bell with a rear-naked choke in the second round at Invicta FC 12. Justino has won three straight fights in the promotion, all via TKO

Women’s MMA Report: Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg retain titles in a combined 60 seconds

Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano In a fight that some had expected to be her toughest to date, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey needed just 14 seconds to retain her title on Saturday night at “UFC 184: Rousey vs. Zingano” in Los Angeles. Rousey finished top contender Cat Zingano with a straight armbar and set a record for the fastest finish in UFC championship history. The title fight between Rousey (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and Zingano (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was initially planned for UFC 168 in December 2013, but Zingano was forced to withdraw from both the bout and her position as a coach on “The Ultimate Fighter 18” due to injury. Fast-forward 14 months, and the top-ranked bantamweights finally met inside the octagon this past weekend. Zingano dashed forward after the opening bell and she leapt at Rousey with a flying knee.
