LFA 66 took place Friday at Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The action aired on AXS TV and included a rare submission win, as well as the retirement of a longtime MMA veteran. In the night’s main event, “The Ultimate Fighter 27” cast member Tyler Diamond (10-1) picked up a decision win over a previously undefeated Jon Neal (10-1).

Just when you thought one gogoplata might be enough to lock up “Submission of the Month,” Andrew Tenneson threw his name into the hat at LFA 66. Tenneson (8-1) pulled off a spectacular finish using the rare submission in his featherweight matchup with Westin Wilson (6-4) at Friday’s event, which took place at Maverik Center in Salt Lake City. Check out the highlight of the finish below (via Twitter ): Although it comes on the regional level, Tenneson’s submission rivals that of former Bellator champ Brent Primus, who pulled off a first-round gogoplata finis h of his own at Bellator Europe 2 this month. Andrew Tenneson (7-1) takes on Westin Wilson (7-3) in a featured bout on the main card at LFA 66, which takes place at Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah, near Salt Lake City. The main card airs on AXS TV. Tenneson has won four straight fights, including back-to-back bouts under the LFA banner. In his promotional debut in 2017, he needed just 49 seconds to take out Andrew Yates with a brutal guillotine choke at LFA 10. LFA has a new interim flyweight titleholder thanks to a dominant performance Friday night. With injured flyweight champion Maikel Perez (6-1) out, Casey Kenney (10-1-1) took advantage and outworked Brandon Royval (8-4) to become the interim champion in the LFA 53 main event. But that past had little to do with the sick shoulder lock Heinisch (8-0) dropped on Lucas Rota (12-7) on Friday in the LFA 10 main event. Heinisch looked outstanding in front of his hometown fans to submit the Brazilian around the midway point of the first round. After the win, Heinisch said he’s ready for a chance to compete in the UFC’s middleweight division.

RFA 34 results: Bojan Velickovic captures vacant welterweight title with submission win

Bojan Velickovic Benjamin Smith had an opportunity to win back the welterweight beltwhen he met Bojan Velickovic in the main event of RFA 34. Unfortunately for Smith, Velickovic had other plans. The welterweight title fight served as the headliner of the event, which took place at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo. The main card aired on AXS TV. Velickovic (13-3) was the better fighter in the clinch for the entirity of the fight and avoided the ground threat of Smith (15-4) when the action did hit the floor

RFA 34 main card finalized with Poppie vs. Stroup, Viana vs. Riley

Hugo Viana The main card is set for next month’s RFA 34 event, which features a welterweight title fight. As previously announced, RFA 34 takes place Jan. 15 at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo., and Benjamin Smith (15-3) and Bojan Velickovic (12-3) fight for the vacant 170-pound title in the main event. New additions to the card include a co-headliner between former RFA title challenger John Poppie (6-2), who was on a 4-0 run before his RFA 28 loss to Andrew Sanchez, and fellow middleweight Adam Stroup (10-2), a longtime Sparta Combat League fighter who had a short run on “The Ultimate Fighter 19” before an elimination-round loss to eventual show runner-up Dhiego Lima. Additionally, Coloradan light heavyweights Jeremy Kimball (11-5) and Cody Mumma (8-2) fight, and Hugo Viana (8-3), a “TUF: Brazil 1” semifinalist, fights for the first time since a 3-3 stint in the UFC when he takes on Zac Riley (3-3), who recently upset Shai Lindsey via 59-second submission on short notice.
