At LFA 114, Lawson (3-1) extended his winning and finishing streaks to three with a brutal 18-second knockout of Bellator alum Anthony Garrett . The event took place at The Factory at the District in St-Louis and streamed on UFC Fight Pass. Lawson, a former Penn State University wrestler, came out guns a-blazing. Eleven finishes in as many pro victories, Kamuela Kirk kept his streak alive in the LFA 107 main event. In his first LFA headliner, Kirk (11-4) defeated fellow Dana White’s Contender Series alumnus Daniel Swain via TKO due to retirement in between Round 2 and 3. Swain (20-11-1), who had lost in between rounds on DWCS in 2020, uttered the words “I’m retired” to his corner, which indicated to the LFA commentary team that Swain’s fight Friday would be his last. Swain took off his gloves for the decision but was not interviewed post-fight and thus did not provide clarity on the situation

After Bellator women’s flyweight champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane (11-0 MMA, 10-0 BMMA) and challenger Juliana Velasquez (10-0 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) made championship weight, lightweight Goiti Yamauchi hit the scale and missed by a wide margin.

Kemran Lachinov, Davion Franklin among additions to Bellator 254 prelims

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Bellator 254 is three weeks away and the preliminary card is filling up. A welterweight fight between Kemran Lachinov and Shimal Nikaev , as well as a heavyweight bout between Davion Franklin and Anthony Garrett , has been added to the Dec. 10 event, a promotion official recently informed MMA Junkie. Lachniov (10-2 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) made his Bellator return in October when he defeated the American Kickboxing Academy’s Kyle Crutchmer by unanimous decision. Turkey’s Lachinov has fought intermittently for Bellator since 2015.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – If you think Jake Hager ’s fight with Anthony Garrett ended because of a low blow, the former WWE superstar has a message for you: “Go get certified as a ref.” At Bellator 231, the bout between Hager (2-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) and Garrett (4-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) was ruled a no contest due to an unintentional groin shot. It was the second accidental knee Hager landed on Garrett in the first round. At a post-fight news conference after the event, Hager gave his thoughts on the situation and blamed his opponent for the final ruling. “The Big Hurt” said he has no interest in a rematch with Garrett

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Jake Hager plays the role of the bad guy on TNT’s popular “All Elite Wrestling” series, and his real fight on Friday night only served to enhance his heel status. At Bellator 231, Hager (2-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) faced off with his most experienced opponent to date Anthony Garrett (4-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA). The fight was halted at 1:56 of the first round and declared a no contest after back-to-back low blows by Hager. After absorbing the highest volume of punches in his career in the opening minute, Hager landed a low blow knee in the clinch on Garrett. Referee Dan Miragliotta called timeout and gave Garrett appropriate time to recuperate.
