They say the last thing a fighter loses is their punching power, which was on full display when UFC and Pride veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira came out of retirement to step into the boxing ring. In recent years, more and more MMA fighters have made the transition to boxing . Following Conor McGregor ‘s lucrative venture into the squared circle in 2017, the trend of UFC stars past and present wanting to compete under the rules of the sweet science is becoming rampant. Francis Ngannou , Nate Diaz , and Anderson Silva are among the list of athletes that are somewhat active in the sport of boxing, but one name that went under the radar was the return of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. ‘Minotouro’ was tasked with facing fitness influencer Fabio Marques. Marques, better known by his online alias Tadalafellas, has a big following on social media for his fitness and wellbeing content. Thirteen years ago today, one of the best heavyweight fight cards in MMA went down in the U.S., but it wasn’t part of the UFC. Back on July 19, 2008, Affliction hosted its inaugural event – Affliction: Banned, which took place at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Two fighters are facing six-month suspensions as a result of their UFC on ESPN 14 bouts. Welterweight Peter Sobotta and featherweight Mike Grundy are facing 180-day terms after their respective unanimous decision losses Saturday on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. On Tuesday, MMA Junkie obtained the full list of suspensions from MixedMartialArts.com , the Association of Boxing Commission’s official record keeper.

Mauricio Rua left no doubt he’s superior to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira on Saturday when he made it 3-0 over his longtime rival at UFC on ESPN 14. After “Shogun” picked up wins in the first two meetings in 2005 and 2015, Rua (27-11-1 MMA, 11-9-1 UFC) made it a clean series sweep over Nogueira (23-10 MMA, 6-7 UFC) with a split decision victory in the trilogy bout with scores of 29-28, 28-29 and 29-28. Nogueira was looking to end his MMA career on a high, as he pegged the matchup as his retirement bout. Rua was having none of it, though, and did not allow his fellow Brazilian to go out on a high. The light heavyweight bout was the co-main event of UFC on ESPN 14, which aired on ESPN and streamed on ESPN+ from Flash Forum at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi
