The Ultimate Fighter 18 TV Ratings Up 14-Percent Week-Over-Week

The second episode of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate bucked a historical trend, becoming only the fifth season in the life of the reality series to improve its audience from episode one to episode two. Episode two, which featured Team Tate’s Julianna Pena upsetting Team Rousey’s Shayna Baszler , scored an audience of 870,000 viewers, improving upon the premier episode’s 762,000 viewers, according to the Nielsen Ratings. That represents a 14-percent increase in viewership week-over-week.

The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate opened the series’ eighteenth installment on Wednesday night, drawing an audience of 726,000 viewers for the premier episode. TUF 18 marks the move of the reality show from FX to the new Fox Sports 1 network, and thus far the move has been rocky, at best.

UFC 163 Prelims TV Ratings Suffer From Lack of Promtion and Difficult Summer Season

UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie failed to drive much interest heading into Saturday’s pay-per-view event, which emanated from Rio de Janeiro, and that was reflected in the TV ratings for the preliminary bout broadcast on FX. The UFC 163 Prelims on FX attracted an audience of 1,000,000 viewers for the four-bout, two-hour broadcast. UFC 163 admittedly suffered from a lack of promotional attention overall with the launch of Fox’s new nationwide sports network, Fox Sports 1, and the re-branding of Fuel TV to Fox Sports 2, receiving the lion’s share of the media giant’s focus.

Bellator 97 Sees Significant TV Ratings Increase Over First Summer Series Event

Like most summer television programming, Bellator’s Summer Series events have struggled to garner much steam in the TV ratings. Bellator 97 on Wednesday night did reasonably well, however, drawing and average audience of 679,000 viewers on Spike TV, which is well above the 480,000 viewers that Bellator 96 drew on June 19. Bellator’s Season 8 averaged just under 800,000 viewers per event, but that was during the much more viewer friendly winter and spring months. Bellator 97 benefited from a strong fight card that featured two title bouts and the light heavyweight tournament final, which King Mo Lawal won.

Fight Master: Bellator MMA TV Ratings Climb to Second Best Mark of Season

Bellator ’s reality series, Fight Master: Bellator MMA, has had a tough time getting off the ground, launching over the summer viewing season, which is typically the off-season for America’s TV viewing audiences. Wednesday night’s Episode 6, however, saw TV ratings increase to the second highest point of the new series’ season thus far. The sixth episode of Fight Master drew an average audience of 629,000 viewers, second only to episode three, which garnered an audience of 676,000 viewers. Fight Master has bounced up and down in the ratings, but Wednesday night was a marked increase over a recent two-week slump that saw the show’s ratings drop to 505,000 and 441,000 for Episodes 4 and 5. Episode 6 benefited from a strong live fight card, Bellator 97, which drew and audience of 679,000

Sources have indicated that an event is potentially being planned for September with wrestlers from all walks of life being asked to participate in the event. In one of the biggest moves, however, rumors have it that the group organizing the effort is also targeting some of the biggest stars in the mixed martial arts world to participate in the event. Many of the top fighters in the UFC , Bellator and other promotions have come from wrestling backgrounds, so it makes perfect sense to showcase them on this type of event.

Spike TV and Glory Sports International Partnership Brings Kickboxing to the Network

Spike TV brought live MMA back to its network earlier this year with the debut of Bellator MMA . On Thursday, the network announced the addition of Glory Sports International’s kickboxing to its combat sports offerings.
