Kurt Holobaugh Desmond Green had to cut off his dreadlocks to make weight and defend his Titan FC featherweight championship against Strikeforce and UFC veteran Kurt Holobaugh at Titan FC 33. Holobaugh had no intention of allowing the weight cut to be the most difficult part of Green’s weekend. The majority of the fight was contested on the feet, with Holobaugh (14-2) doing slightly more in the striking game while Green (14-4) would score with a takedown at some point in most rounds, but never being able to do significant work or truly control the fight. Holobaugh controlled the center of the cage when the two men were striking, forcing Green to retreat for much of the fight while Holobaugh picked his spots to throw strikes. Green’s trainer, Firas Zahabi, spent much of the bout imploring Green to utilize his wrestling, but Green was content to strike, rarely showing a commitment to try to get the fight to the ground over the 25 minutes of ring time, and that decision to stay on the feet and get out-struck cost him dearly

The card, which takes place at The Aeroplex at Brookley in Mobile, Ala., on March 20, has eleven fights scheduled, including four title bouts. The main card airs on CBS Sports Network. The evening’s main event sees Desmond Green (14-3) put his featherweight title on the line against Kurt Holobaugh (13-2). The contest served as the headlining bout of Friday’s Legacy FC 34 event, which took place at Mississippi’s Horseshoe Tunica Hotel & Casino.

Cejudo-Hall, Brookins-Lyons set for August’s Legacy FC 34

Legacy FC’s lineup for its August return has been bolstered with high-profile main and co-main events. Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo (5-0) is set to meet Brian Hall (6-2) in a flyweight bout to headline Legacy FC 34, while UFC veteran Jonathan Brookins (16-4) will drop to bantamweight to meet Austin Lyons (11-3) in the co-feature. Legacy FC 34 takes place Aug. 29 at Horseshoe Tunica Hotel & Casino in Tunica, Miss. The main card airs live on AXS TV. In addition to those two fights, Legacy FC 34 will feature a lightweight bout between Taylor Callens (5-0) and Wade Johnson (7-0); a middleweight bout between Joel Cooper (5-1) and Grady Hurley (7-1); a light heavyweight bout pitting Jens Grau (0-0) vs. Paul Rainey (0-0); and Aaron Meadows (5-0) vs. Eli McGlothlin (13-5) at lightweight.
