Jacob Volkmann will correct you if you say he got released from the UFC. To him, there’s no mistaking what happened after his eighth fight in the octagon, which resulted in a submission loss to Bobby Green at UFC 156. “I got fired,” he told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). Volkmann (15-4), who fights Lyle Beerbohm (21-2) on Friday at World Series of Fighting 3 in Las Vegas, said he was sick the week of the Green fight and had to take medication to make it into the octagon. He did, but his typically steady endurance failed him in the later rounds of the fight

Following back-to-back losses in Strikeforce in 2011, lightweight Lyle “Fancy Pants” Beerbohm has rebounded with six wins in a row as he heads into his World Series of Fighting debut on June 14. “I didn’t go anywhere or do any camps or anything like that,” said Beerbohm of his rebound. “I haven’t changed anything. I’ve got great training up here in Spokane (Wash.), so things are good.

Injury knocks Rolles Gracie from WSOF 3, Beerbohm-Volkmann moved to main card

The third World Series of Fighting show has taken a hit to its main card later this month. A sprained wrist has forced Rolles Gracie (8-1) out of his main-card fight against Dave Huckaba (20-5) at WSOF 3. Rather than seek a new opponent for Huckaba on short notice, WSOF officials on Wednesday announced the fight has been scrapped. Taking its place on the main card will be a lightweight bout between Lyle Beerbohm (21-2) and Jacob Volkmann (15-4), which previously had been slated to wrap up the preliminary card. WSOF 3 taeks place June 14 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network following prelims that will stream live at MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com)

Rolles Gracie Forced Off World Series of Fighting 3 Card; Fight Cancelled

Rolles Gracie has been forced off of the World Series of Fighting 3 fight card due to injury. WSOF matchmaker Ali Abdel-Aziz on Wednesday confirmed Gracie’s injury to MMAWeekly.com. It was first reported by MMAFighting.com . Gracie injured his wrist, forcing him out of the fight, and forcing WSOF officials to shuffle its fight card. Gracie was to have fought Dave Huckaba on the four-bout main card televised on the NBC Sports network. With Gracie out, WSOF officials will not seek a replacement. They will instead elevate Jacob Volkmann vs. Lyle Beerbohm from the preliminary status up to the televised main card

TUF 13 Alum Keon Caldwell Signs with World Series of Fighting

Former Ultimate Fighter 13 cast member Keon “Black Assassin” Caldwell has signed a multi-fight deal with the World Series of Fighting . Caldwell’s manager, Jason Ellis, informed MMAWeekly.com of the signing on Tuesday. Caldwell, who left TUF 13 during the season’s second episode due to family reasons and was replaced by Justin Edwards, will be looking to make his WSOF debut in late summer or early autumn according to Ellis. When Caldwell does make his debut for the promotion, he will do so at lightweight, which is quickly becoming one of the most stacked divisions in the WSOF. The promotion’s 155-pound roster includes fighters such as Justin Gatheje, Brian Cobb, Lyle Beerbohm and Jacob Volkman, all of whom will be competing on the company’s third installment on July 14 in Las Vegas
