Lance Palmer ran roughshod over Jumabieke Tuerxun before finishing him with the move he’d attempted most of the fight. It took Palmer quite a few trips to Tuerxun’s back to get the rear-naked choke. But at the 4:34 mark of the third round, he managed to get the tap and secure the No. 2 seed in the post-season tournament.

The Professional Fighters League will be back in New York next month, and the lineup is set for its fourth event of its inaugural season. PFL 4 takes place July 19 at NYCB LIVE in Uniondale, N.Y., on Long Island. The main card airs on NBCSN following prelims on Facebook. The card will be made of of the second fights in the two-fight regular season for featherweights and heavyweights in the field. The inaugural PFL season features six divisions. Twelve fighters in each division have a pair of regular-season fights in which they’ll earn points to qualify for this fall’s playoffs

Former WSOF champion Andre Harrison showed why he was a massive 45-1 favorite in his first Professional Fighters League bout. Harrison (18-0) dominated Jumabieke Tuerxun (20-7-1) in their featherweight fight – though Harrison’s failure to get a finish meant he picked up just three points for his season-opening fight instead of the maximum six. Still, Harrison dominated with a sweep on the scorecards, including a 30-26 tally

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) kicks off its first season on Thursday with a fight card that contains a lot of familiar names. The goal of those fighters is to be the last man standing in their weight division at the end of the tournament-based “playoffs.” Their prize for attaining that goal will be $1 million. To reach that goal, fighters must accumulate enough points during the two-fight “regular season” to secure one of the eight playoff spots. Twelve fighters comprise each division’s roster at featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight. After two “regular-season” contests, eight competitors will be chosen for the tourney field based on the number of points earned for both their result and methods of victory.

The lineup is set for the first event under PFL – the rebranded WSOF promotion that has relaunched with an ambitious yearlong tournament format with some major paydays. PFL 1 takes place Thursday, June 7, at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The main card airs on NBCSN following prelims on Facebook, though the 12-bout lineup hasn’t yet been assigned broadcast slots. As MMAjunkie recently reported, the organization put together a 72-man roster with fighters in six different weight classes. They’ll initially fight and earn points based on their methods of victory, and the top eight qualifiers will be seeded in tournaments later this year that earn each winner a cool $1 million. Blagoy Ivanov ’s reign over WSOF’s heavyweight division continued on Saturday night in a big way. Ivanov (15-1) had no trouble with challenger Shawn Jordan (19-8) in the WSOF 35 main event to retain his heavyweight title with a first-round TKO that came at the 1:43 mark of the fight. WSOF 35 took place at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y. The main card, which featured three title fights, aired on NBCSN following prelims on MMAjunkie. Jordan put pressure on Ivanov early and had him circling on the outside of the cage
