The latest installment of “Bellator: Uncut” offers a behind-the-scenes look at this past weekend’s Bellator 116, where Blagoi Ivanov reached the Season 10 heavyweight tournament final with a submission win over Lavar Johnson. In addition to the heavyweight fight, which headlined the card on Spike TV from Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif., Bellator 116 featured a featherweight a pair of welterweight tournament semifinal fights, as well as the retirement fight for veteran Vladimir Matyushenko. In the main event, Blagoi Ivanov (11-0 MMA, 6-0 BMMA) landed a perfect Sambo throw against Lavar Johnson (18-9 MMA, 1-2 UFC), then latched on to his left arm and forced a tap from an Americana. In the other semifinal, Alexander Volkov (21-4 MMA, 5-1 BMMA) added a spectacular knockout finish to his resume with a first-round head kick to stop Siala-Mou Siliga (6-3 MMA, 3-1 BMMA) and forge a date with Ivanov in the final later this season. Earlier on in the card, Adam McDonough (11-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) kept his undefeated record in tact with a one-sided thrashing of Nathan Coy (14-5 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) and a second-round knockout finish to reach the welterweight tournament final. Brandon Halsey (6-0 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) took care of Joe Pacheco (7-2 MMA, 2-2 BMMA) to reach the middleweight final against Brett Cooper. And Joey Beltran (15-10 MMA, 1-1 UFC) sent Vladimir Matyushenko (27-8 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) out of his career on a losing note with a third-round choke. Friday’s event aired on Spike TV from Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif.

Beltran (14-10 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) is now slated to fight fellow light heavyweight and UFC vet Vladimir Matyushenko (27-7 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) on the Spike TV-televised main card of Friday’s Bellator 116 event at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif. It’s the final fight of Matyushenko’s lengthy and accomplished MMA career. Beltran was already weeks into his boxing training when Bellator called, and he soon shifted gears to an MMA camp. But he’s not giving up on his goal to try a second combat sport.

Lavar Johnson knows he’s got a tough row to hoe in front of him, but that isn’t making his confidence waver. Johnson (18-8 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) on Friday meets Blagoi Ivanov (10-0 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) in the semifinals of Bellator MMA’s Season 10 heavyweight tournament. The fight takes place at Bellator 116 at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif., with a main card, including Johnson-Ivanov in the main event, on Spike TV following prelims on Spike.com. Ivanov is an unbeaten Sambo champion from Russia, but Johnson believes even though he’s the underdog, he can win his second straight after losing his Bellator debut this past October.
