Former middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko ’s Bellator homecoming was a victorious one. After forcing to fight overseas due to a failed drug test and lengthy fight with the California State Athletic Commission, Shlemenko (54-9 MMA, 12-3 BMMA) was in fine form during a hard-fought TKO win over vet Kendall Grove (23-16 MMA, 4-3 BMMA). The bout headlined today’s Bellator 162 event, which took place at FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn. The main card aired on Spike following prelims on MMAjunkie. Virgil Zwicker has no problem admitting there are times when his focus is splintered away from MMA. He can also admit that splinter has led to some losses in his carer, specifically in his most recent fight, a second-round submission loss to Brian Rogers at Bellator 147 in December. Zwicker (14-5-1 MMA, 3-2-1 BMMA) doesn’t have much in the way of regrets, though, he said. When his attention isn’t centered around training and fight preparation, the light heavyweight slugger spends his time coaching a youth football team, as well as running a martial arts program for kids. “The funny thing is, working with kids has made me learn about myself a lot more,” Zwicker told MMAjunkie. “Knowing that when they’re looking up to me they understand that and put that in themselves – that’s the reward

Kevin ‘Baby Slice’ Ferguson Jr. vents at ‘insanely unprofessional’ opponent after weight miss

Filed under: Bellator , News Unsurprisingly, Kevin Ferguson Jr. is upset after scheduled Bellator 162 opponent Ray Bing today missed weight by nearly 17 pounds, resulting in the cancelation of their fight. Ferguson Jr. (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), or “Baby Slice,” who is the son of the late Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, was supposed to fight Bing (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) in a 165-pound catchweight bout at Friday’s event, which takes place at FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn., and airs on Spike following prelims on MMAjunkie. However, Bing weighed in at 181.9 pounds, forcing the promotion to call off the matchup . It’s been a long road to Ferguson Jr.’s Bellator debut after he had a fight postponed due to injury in August.
