He has won seven straight fights – all by stoppage. And he’s 5-0 since coming to Bellator. At Bellator 205, he’ll meet Rafael Lovato Jr. (8-0 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) in what very well could be a middleweight title eliminator

John Salter has had some big tests so far in his Bellator career, and he’s passed them all with flying colors. Saturday, Salter (15-3 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) will get his next test when he takes on an unbeaten opponent, Rafael Lovato Jr. (7-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA), at Bellator 198. Bellator 198 takes place Saturday at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., near Chicago. The main card airs on Paramount following prelims on MMAjunkie.

Emily Ducote at Bellator 186 Ilima Macfarlane (7-0 MMA, 6-0 BMMA) may have become Bellator’s inaugural women’s flyweight champion, but Emily Ducote (6-3 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) did not go down without a major fight. Macfarlane finally put Ducote away with an armbar and a verbal submission from a triangle choke late in the fifth round. But Ducote tested her most of the fight in what may have been a close one had it gone to the judges.

The event took place Friday at Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv and aired via one-day delay on Spike. Lahat’s (12-3 MMA, 3-1 BMMA) unanimous-decision win over Labiano (11-6 MMA, 0-2 BMMA) closed out a four-fight televised lineup that saw all previous matchups end inside the distance via first-round submissions

If there’s pressure being a home fan favorite, and being the de facto top guy for a whole country, Lahat didn’t show it a year ago in his promotional debut at Bellator 164. And that impressed Bellator analyst Jimmy Smith. “Everybody thinks about crowd support – they think about having everyone behind you, they think about having everybody chanting your name,” Smith said in the latest edition of Bellator’s “Foundations” video series, which focused on Lahat. “Fighting has enough pressure, and the idea that you have the hopes of an entire country on your shoulders … everybody’s expecting you to win, hoping that you win, praying that you win – that weighs on you.” Lahat (11-3 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) takes on Jeremiah Labiano (11-5 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) in Bellator 188’s main event in Israel, where he was born.
