Former Bellator bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwell ’s maiden title defense during his 135-pound title reign was a memorable one, as he submitted Brazilian contender Leandro Higo at Bellator 195. Caldwell (14-3 MMA, 11-2 BMMA) captured the bantamweight title in October 2017 with a unanimous decision victory over Eduardo Dantas, but his first victory as champion was a much more decisive one, finishing Higo via guillotine choke at the midway point of the opening round in Thackerville, Okla.

Bellator has a new online feature worth checking out, if for no other reason than you can get a glimpse at an autographed Fedor Emelianenko sweater. “Between Rounds” is the new segment, and it’s hosted by FOX Sports alum Andy Nesbitt. (We’ll try to curb our mild Nesbitt bias, given he’s a huge Pearl Jam fan , and that’s always all right with us. If that’s not for you, so to speak, we’re indifferent.) In the inaugural episode, Nesbitt takes a look back at Bellator 195 two weeks ago and Darrion Caldwell ’s bantamweight title defense against Leandro Higo. Bellator hosted its fourth event of the year on Friday when Bellator 195 took place at WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla. The main card aired on Paramount following prelims on MMAjunkie. In the main event, Darrion Caldwell (12-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) achieved his first successful bantamweight title defense when he put his grappling skills to work yet again and became the first to submit Leandro Higo (18-4 MMA, 1-2 BMMA) with a first-round guillotine choke .
