Under normal circumstances, MMA fans in London would be getting themselves ready for a packed card of fights at the SSE Arena, Wembley for Bellator Europe 8 on Saturday. But as we all know, right now we don’t live under normal circumstances. The continued restrictions to combat the COVID-19 pandemic mean U.K.-based MMA fans will have to sit tight and wait a little longer to get their live dose of Bellator action. But in the meantime, the promotion has offered a small taster of what fans can expect when Bellator’s European Series events get back up and running later this year by releasing a highlight reel featuring a fistful of fight finishes from previous events in London. Also on that card, former kickboxing ace Denise Kielholtz showcased her evolving grappling game with an Americana finish of Sabriye Sengul, while rising English lightweight prospect Akonne Wanliss showed off some slick submission skills of his own as he finished Tim Barnett via D’Arce choke

Bellator crowned a new middleweight champion this past week, and right away the talk started up about a possible champ vs. champ fight. After winning the middleweight title at Bellator 200 in London, Gegard Mousasi (44-6-2 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) called out welterweight champ Rory MacDonald (20-4 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) for a superfight.

England was the center of the MMA universe this past weekend, and a pair of fighters picked up important victories in headlining slots. On Friday, it was Gegard Mousasi (44-6-2 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) who picked up his seventh consecutive victory, scoring a first-round TKO win over Rafael Carvalho to claim Bellator’s middleweight title in the main event of Bellator 200 in London. On Sunday, it was welterweight Darren Till (17-0-1 MMA, 5-0-1 UFC) who remained unbeaten in a controversial decision win over perennial contender Stephen Thompson (14-3-1 MMA, 9-3-1 UFC) in the featured contest of UFC Fight Night 130 in Liverpool. Both fighters are proving themselves to be among the best in the world in their divisions, and each sits on the top 5 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA rankings – a familiar position for Mousasi, albeit with a slightly higher position, though Till sits there for the very first time.
