Bellator 202, which took place July 31, 2018 at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla., featured then-champion Julia Budd putting her women’s featherweight belt on the line against Brazilian challenger Talita Nogueira . We’re a week removed from back-to-back Bellator events on two separate continents, and if you like finishes those cards brought the goods. Bellator 202 took place July 13 at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla. Bellator 203 took July 14 at Foro Italico in Rome. The main cards aired on Paramount. In 10 total main-card fights between the two events, eight ended with stoppages. At Bellator 203, five of the six fights on the main card were first-round finishes – including a six-second stunner.

After sitting out for two years with a suspension, and dropping out of the rankings due to inactivity, Chad Mendes found a pretty impressive way to return. Mendes (18-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) this past Saturday knocked out Myles Jury (17-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in the first round of their featherweight bout at UFC Fight Night 133 at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho. And now that he’s back and active again, Mendes, a three-time title challenger, is eligible to be back in the rankings. He moved pretty quickly right back into the top of the heap at 145 pounds. But UFC Fight Night 133 wasn’t the only event this past weekend.

Julia Budd continued her dominance of the Bellator women’s featherweight division on Friday with a win in Bellator 202’s headliner. Budd (12-2 MMA, 6-0 BMMA) remained unbeaten in the Bellator cage and earned her second consecutive title defense with a third-round TKO win over challenger Talita Nogueira (7-1 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) to continue her reign over the women’s 145-pound division.

Bellator 202′s Chris Honeycutt volunteers to fight in welterweight tournament

Veteran Bellator middleweight Chris Honeycutt will take just about any opportunity he can get in his own division – or neighoring ones. After a long layoff, Honeycutt (11-2 MMA, 7-2 BMMA) is tired of waiting for the phone to ring, and he’s willing to lose or gain weight to keep busy. Asked whether he’d like to volunteer for an upcoming tournament in the Bellator welterweight division, Honeycutt eagerly agreed. “I would fight at 170, I’d fight at 185, and with the right opponent, I’ll fight at 205, as well,” Honeycutt told reporters after his shutout win over Leo Leite (10-2 MMA, 0-2 BMMA) at Bellator 202, which took place Friday at WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla.
