Bellator makes its return to Ireland on Friday with Bellator 270 at 3Arena in Dublin. The main card airs on Showtime following prelims streamed on MMA Junkie. At long last, the lightweight title returns in the main event. After Patricio Freire vacated the strap, his old brother Patricky Freire (23-10 MMA, 14-8 BMMA) will get a chance to keep the gold in the family when he rematches Peter Queally (13-5-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) for the vacant belt. While both the UFC and Bellator featured headliners that fell a little short in the entertainment department this past weekend, both night’s big winners benefitted from the result. This past Friday, it was Michael Page (20-1 MMA, 16-1 BMMA), who scored a decision win over the only man to ever beat him, Douglas Lima (32-10 MMA, 14-6 BMMA), in the featured bout of Bellator 267 in London. While the status of “MVP” as an elite fighter has long been a point of contention, it’s hard to deny the impressive career record, especially with a signature win over Lima, and Page moves up to No. 11 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie welterweight rankings. For the first installment in this new series, we take a look at Douglas Lima vs. Michael Page 2, a highly-anticipated rematch that took place at Bellator 267 on Friday in London, England at the SSE Arena, Wembley. Page was awarded the victory via split decision , earning 29-28 scores from judges Eric Colon and Douglas Crosby, while Ben Cartlidge saw the fight for Lima with a dissenting score of 29-28.

Bellator 267 reactions: Winning and losing fighters on social media

Since the early days when the sport was anything but a mainstream endeavor, the MMA industry has thrived and survived through various websites, forums and, perhaps most importantly, social-media platforms. Bellator 267 matchmaker: What’s next for Michael Page after Douglas Lima rematch?

Michael Page got some redemption from the sole loss of his career on Friday when he came out of his rematch against Douglas Lima with his hand raised. Although it was a controversial result, “MVP” ultimately left the cage with a split decision win in the Bellator 267 main event, which took place on his home soil at The SSE Wembley in London. Page (20-1 MMA, 16-1 BMMA) was badly knocked out by Lima (32-10 MMA, 14-6 BMMA) in their first meeting in May 2019. He’s been seeking a second opportunity since, and although he didn’t get revenge in a similar spectacular fashion to how he was beaten, he ultimately left the winner. It seemed the victory would catapult Page to a Bellator welterweight championship fight with undefeated titleholder Yaroslav Amosov, but he expressed post-fight how he would rather do a trilogy fight with Lima to settle the score once and for all.

Bellator returned overseas to London on Friday with Bellator 267 , which took place at The SSE Wembley and aired on Showtime. One of the most anticipated rematches in company history took place in the main event. It didn’t deliver as many had expected, but in the end Michael Page (20-1 MMA, 16-1 BMMA) avenged his sole career defeat against former champion Douglas Lima (32-10 MMA< 14-6 BMMA) with a split decision win in the matchup of welterweight contenders.

It should come as no surprise that Douglas Lima doesn’t agree with the judges who scored his rematch with Michael Page . On Friday, Lima found himself on the wrong end of a narrow split decision to Page, which headlined Bellator 267 at The SSE Arena, Wembley. After 15 minutes, the judges scored it 28-29, 29-28, 29-28 for Page, who avenged his 2019 knockout loss to Lima in the welterweight grand prix. While Lima (32-10 MMA, 14-6 BMMA) scored a few takedowns to find himself on top for a good portion of the fight, he never was able to fully capitalize on the position as Page (20-1 MMA, 16-1 BMMA) managed to mitigate the damage with wrist control from bottom
