Johnny Eblen on confrontation with UFC champ Leon Edwards at Bellator 299: ‘I want to fight him, too’

Johnny Eblen almost got into a second fight after his successful Bellator title defense, and it was with none other than UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards. On Saturday, Eblen stopped Fabian Edwards , Leon’s brother, in the third round of their middleweight championship bout in the main event of Bellator 299 at 3Arena in Dublin. Adrenaline was running and Eblen (14-0 MMA, 10-0 BMMA) began to shout over a knocked-out Edwards (12-3 MMA, 8-3 BMMA), as the two had some bad blood in the lead up to the event. Johhny Eblen might’ve been lucky he stopped Fabian Edwards when he did. The Bellator middleweight champion was winning on all scorecards before stopping Edwards (12-3 MMA, 8-3 BMMA) early in the third round of their Bellator 299 main event at 3Arena in Dublin, but he was also carrying a nasty gash on his right eyebrow that could’ve jeopardized his fight. Edwards cut Eblen (14-0 MMA, 10-0 BMMA) with an elbow while separating from a clinch exchange in the second round. Aaron Pico gave Pedro Carvalho no chance. Pico, the Bellator featherweight contender, picked up a quick TKO win in the co-main event of Saturday’s Bellator 299 in Dublin. Pico (12-4 MMA, 12-4 BMMA) put away Carvalho (13-8 MMA, 6-5 BMMA) with ground-and-pound 3:05 into the first round. It was another dominant showing for Pico, this one on his 27th birthday

Bellator 299 video: Levan Chokheli sleeps Sabah Homasi with nasty front kick to the face

Levan Chokheli kicked off the Bellator 299 main card in devastating fashion. The Bellator welterweight scored a nasty front head-kick knockout over veteran Sabah Homasi in the opening bout of the Showtime portion of Bellator 299 on Saturday at 3Arena in Dublin. After a few exchanges, Chokheli (13-2 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) had Homasi (17-12 MMA, 6-6 BMMA) backed up against the cage. Then out of nowhere, Chokheli threw a front kick right to Homasi’s chin, putting him out instantly. It took a few minutes for Homasi to get back to his feet following the KO, but he eventually walked off on his own power
