TOKYO – Quinton Jackson has a message for those criticizing his next fight. Jackson (38-13 MMA, 5-2 BMMA) will close out the decade when he faces Fedor Emelianenko (38-6 MMA, 2-2 BMMA) in the Bellator 237 main event at Saitama Super Arena in Japan on Saturday night (Sunday locally). Both have competed under the PRIDE banner in the past, but never crossed paths, and despite being in the latter years of their careers, “Rampage” guarantees that the fans are in for a show. “This is a special moment in MMA history no matter what the naysayers say,” Jackson told MMA Junkie at media day a promoting the event

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Quinton Jackson knows not to underestimate Fedor Emelianenko , even at this stage of his career. Jackson (38-13 MMA, 5-2 BMMA) takes on Emelianenko (38-6 MMA, 2-2 BMMA) in the Bellator 237 main event at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan, a sort-of throwback style fight. Both men were stars in the PRIDE era, but they never crossed paths.

Bellator 237, Rizin FF 20 cards begin to fill out with multiple additions, including five crossover bouts

Five additional fights have been added to the upcoming Bellator and Rizin FF joint cards being held in Saitama, Japan. Bellator president Scott Coker shared the news of three crossover bouts that are headed to the Bellator 237 card at Saitama Super Arena, as well as two crossover bouts added to the Rizin FF 20 card also taking place at the same venue, two days later. On the Bellator card, UFC veterans Lorenz Larkin (21-7 MMA, 3-2 BMMA) and Keita Nakamura (35-10-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) will both make quick turnarounds and square off in a welterweight bout. Since dropping his first two promotional bouts with Bellator, Larkin has won his last three in a row, most recently picking up a split-decision win over Andrey Koreshkov at Bellator 229. Nakamura made good in his Rizin debut, scoring a first round finish over Marcos Yoshio de Souza at Rizin FF 19. Also headed to Bellator 237 is a women’s flyweight bout between Ilara Joanne (9-4 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) and Kana Watanabe (8-0-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA).

While the sport of MMA continues to evolve and improve inside and outside the cage, one area that has stayed relatively stagnant in recent years has been the design of official fight posters. While some of the artwork produced by independent artists (tip of the hat to you, Bosslogic) has been both original and pleasing to the eye, many of the posters put out by the big promotions have all been a bit “samey.” The same fonts each event, the same look, slight variations on pretty much the same layout. They might fit the corporate brief, but they don’t really set the pulses racing and make the posters fun, exciting or collectible for fans

Bellator’s debut event in Japan now has a co-main event. Former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler (19-5 MMA, 16-5 BMMA) will meet former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson (28-8 MMA, 5-3 BMMA) at Bellator Japan, the promotion announced during Friday night’s Bellator 231 broadcast. While both fighters are predominantly known for their accomplishments at lightweight, the fight will be contested at a catchweight of 160 pounds. The bout will mark the second time Chandler and Henderson face off
