The barnburner that was UFC Fight Night 40′s headliner left both of its participants suspended indefinitely. Welterweights Matt Brown and Erick Silva need a doctor’s clearance for potential right elbow and jaw injuries, according to the Ohio Athletic Commission, which today released medical suspensions from this past Saturday’s event to MMAjunkie. A total of 11 fighters were suspended following UFC Fight Night 40, which took place at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. The event’s main card aired live on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on UFC Fight Pass

CINCINNATI – A right hand over the top of Ben Wall ’s (7-2-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC) defenses put him in trouble, and a follow-up left by Justin Salas (12-5 MMA, 3-2 UFC) put him down. From there, it was a short trip to a knockout victory for Salas at the 2:41 mark of Round 1. The lightweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 40 event at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.

The recently announced UFC Fight Night in Cincinnati event has its two first bouts, both of which include an Australian fighter, UFC officials today announced. The pairings include heavyweights Soa Palelei (20-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) vs. Ruan Potts (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and lightweights Justin Salas (11-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) vs. Ben Wall (7-1-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC). As reported earlier today, the event takes place May 10 at Cincinnati’s U.S. Bank Arena .

The welterweight bout opened up the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 33 event at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It streamed on MMAjunkie ahead of additional prelims on FOX Sports 2 and a main card on FOX Sports 1. Wall, who normally competes at lightweight and took the bout on short notice, looked to take the fight to the floor, but Garcia easily pushed aside the attempts and kept the action on the feet.
