One of Joe Lauzon ‘s best resume points is his tie at 12 with record-breaker Anderson Silva for fight-night bonuses in the UFC. In his next fight, he even has a chance to take the lead when he meets Michael Johnson on the main card of UFC Fight Night 26, which takes place Aug. 17 in his backyard at Boston’s TD Garden. “This is my opportunity, so I’m going to get a bonus, then petition to get it changed to the ‘Joe Lauzon bonus,’” the UFC lightweight joked in an interview with MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com). It would be even better if the UFC then eliminated the $50,000 fight-night bonuses, so he could cement his place in the promotion’s history.

Concerned by dull fights, promoter offers finish bonuses at CFA 12

Championship Fighting Alliance is giving fighters an extra check to finish their bouts at his next event. Promoter Jorge de la Noval believes MMA has gotten too safe and said fighters who deliver a KO, TKO, or submission at CFA 12 will get a bonus on top of their “show” and “win” money. But those who put on a good fight, or as de la Noval puts it, a barnburner on the order of Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar , will also get extra money. “Fighters are not finishing fights,” de la Noval told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “They’re just going in there to get the win bonus. RIO DE JANEIRO – Anthony Perosh , Sergio Moraes , Ian McCall and Iliarde Santos each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC 163 event. Perosh won “Knockout of the Night,” Moraes earned the “Submission of the Night” and McCall and Santos picked up “Fight of the Night” honors. UFC officials announced the winners following Saturday’s card. UFC 163 took place at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook. SEATTLE – UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard wanted to send a message by beating Mac Danzig at UFC on FOX 8. Now, after knocking out “The Ultimate Fighter 6″ winner in highlight-reel fashion, he wants to keep busy by fighting at UFC 166, which takes place Oct. 19 in his former hometown of Houston. Guillard (31-12-2 MMA, 12-8 UFC) expressed no preference of opponents and told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), “I don’t care who I fight. As long as they put them in front of me, I’ll fight them.” Before he returns to his new training home at Denver’s Grudge Training Center, where he spent three months preparing for Danzig (21-11-1 MMA, 5-7 UFC), “The Young Assassin” will fly to Florida to reunite with his wife for a week. He’ll then fly to his native New Orleans to spend two weeks with his sister, who’s preparing to undergo brain surgery. Guillard stressed the importance of family in his impressive turnaround. This past week, he missed his grandmother’s funeral to complete his training camp for UFC on FOX 8.

Win, lose or draw, Anderson Silva will go home from his next fight at UFC 162 a rather happy man, at least financially. On Friday, Bleacher Report received the reported salary information for the main event and co-main event fighters for the upcoming UFC 162 card from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. According to the report, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will make $600,000 for his show money, and if he wins, he will pocket an additional $200,000. Silva just recently renegotiated a new 10-fight deal with the UFC that is obviously paying him substantially higher than his last contract. When Silva fought Chael Sonnen in the main event of UFC 148 in July 2012, the Brazilian took home $200,000 with no win bonus for his performance. Silva did fight one more time in 2012 at UFC 153, but the card was in Brazil and no salary information was released for that show. Now with his new fight deal in place, Silva stands to make almost a million dollars should he beat Weidman on Saturday, and he will likely take home an even larger paycheck based on pay-per-view bonuses he receives that are not disclosed publicly. As for Silva’s opponent, Weidman will pocket $24,000 for his show money at UFC 162 with a chance to win an additional $24,000 if he wins
