Ranking Criteria The rankings take into account a fighter’s wins/losses, quality of competition, finishing rate/dominance and frequency of fights. Fighters are no longer eligible to be ranked after they’ve been inactive for 24 months, either due to injuries, drug/conduct suspensions, contract disputes or self-imposed hiatuses. Fighters serving drug/conduct suspensions are eligible to be ranked, so long as they’re not inactive for more than 24 months. To the best of our ability, fighters will be ranked in their primary weight class. Catchweight fights and bouts outside the fighter’s primary weight class can have a positive or negative impact on the ranking. However, fighters can be ranked in only one weight class at a given time, and in most cases, they won’t be ranked in a new weight class until they’ve had their first fight at that weight. With this past week’s slew of main-event bookings, the USA TODAY Sports and MMAjunkie.com MMA rankings should see some significant changes in the coming months. UFC champs Cain Velasquez, Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre all have new fall fight dates.

UFC on FOX Sports 1 3 targets Belo Horizonte, Teixeira-Bader, ‘Jacare’-Okami

The UFC’s third event on FOX Sports 1 will reportedly take place in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and a pair of high-profile contests are apparently targeted for the evening’s main card. The UFC on FOX Sports 1 3 main event will reportedly see light heavyweights Glover Teixeira (21-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) and Ryan Bader (15-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) face off, while middleweight action sees Yushin Okami (29-7 MMA) face Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (18-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC). The targeted location and bookings were first reported by Brazilian outlet Portal do Vale Tudo . MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed the likely plans with multiple sources close to the event, though UFC officials have yet to make any formal announcements. Teixeira and Bader were actually expected to fight this past May at UFC 160. However, Bader suffered an injury in training and was replaced by James Te Huna , who was submitted by Teixeira in the first round of the contest. Teixeira now boasts an incredible 19-fight win streak and a perfect 4-0 mark in the UFC. Meanwhile, Bader looks to build on the strength of a January win over Vladimir Matyushenko

Ronnie Mann: Bellator gave me the Cage Warriors’ buyout money as an apology

After Cage Warriors bought out his contract, Ronnie Mann said his split with Bellator MMA was amicable, especially since officials from his former home gave him a nice parting gift. As announced this past week, Cage Warriors paid $5,000 to buy out Mann’s contract, and the U.K.-based organization promptly signed him to a new five-fight deal. And though Bellator had every right to keep the money, Mann said they ultimately gave it to him instead. “As an apology – that’s why I’ve been saying they’re a great company – they are going to donate that $5,000 to myself for keeping me on the shelf so long,” he today told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “I haven’t gotten it yet, but they said they said they’re going to transfer it to me. “They said they kept me on the shelf, and that’s an apology for doing so.” Mann (21-6-1), who was born in Thailand but not calls England home, was once of Bellator’s biggest signings, but the 26-year-old’s bookings were sporadic after he fell short in a pair of eight-man tournaments. Although he fought four times in 2011, he registered just one Bellator appearance in 2012. He’s also fought just once this year.

Cage Warriors inks seven fighters to multi-fight deals

Cage Warriors’ exclusive roster of talent has grown following the recent signing of seven fighters to multi-fight deals. The organization, which streams its events on MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), today announced 18-month, five-fight deals for Steven Ray , Shaj Haque , Mick Sinclair , Carl Noon , Lawrence Fitzpatrick , Bryan Creighton and John Redmond . Officials haven’t announced bookings for any of the competitors. Ray (12-4) made his lone Cage Warriors’ appearance in early 2012 and suffered a submission loss to Assan Njie . The Scottish lightweight then won three consecutive fights before a March loss to Curt Warburton at BAMMA 12. Haque (3-0) an undefeated flyweight, has fought twice for the organization. The English fighter picked up decision wins over Oliver Battell and Kris Edwards . Sinclair (12-3), an English lightweight, has fought three times for the organization and knocked out Josh Dennis at Cage Warriors 37 in 2010.

McDaniel vs. Tavares, Kaufman vs. McMann added to UFC on FOX Sports 1 2 in Indy

While the UFC has been busy filling the dance card for the promotion’s debut UFC on FOX Sports 1 event, company officials are busy filling out the second card, as well. UFC officials today announced a pair of additions to the “UFC on FOX Sports 1 2: Kampmann vs. Condit 2″ card, which takes place at Indianapolis’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The new bookings include a middleweight bout of Robert “Bubba” McDaniel (21-6 MMA, 1-0 UFC) vs. Brad Tavares and a women’s bantamweight fight of Sarah Kaufman (16-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs.
