LFA has a new interim flyweight titleholder thanks to a dominant performance Friday night. With injured flyweight champion Maikel Perez (6-1) out, Casey Kenney (10-1-1) took advantage and outworked Brandon Royval (8-4) to become the interim champion in the LFA 53 main event. The flyweight title will be on the line when LFA returns to Phoenix in November. Maikel Perez (7-1) will put his belt up against challenge Casey Kenney (9-1-1) in the LFA 53 main event, the promotion recently announced. In the co-feature, Kyle Stewart (10-1) is set to take on Braden Smith (8-2) in a welterweight bout. More bouts will be announced in the coming weeks. LFA 53 takes place Nov. 9 at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix.

LFA 18 took place at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Okla., and the main card aired on AXS TV. In the main event, featherweight champion Kevin Aguilar (13-1) retained his bout with a unanimous-decision clean sweep of Justin Rader (6-3) while scoring 50-45 tallies across the board. It was “not an overly exciting fight,” as cageside commentator Pat Miletich put it.

Justin Rader had two things in mind in his quest to become LFA’s featherweight champion against titleholder Kevin Aguilar : kicks and takedowns. The kicks were mostly there throughout for Rader (6-3). The takedowns, not so much, and Aguilar (13-1) retained his 145-pound title with a unanimous decision victory in the LFA 18 main event – despite some solid moments from the challenger throughout the five-round fight.

Officials today announced the event takes place Aug. 4 at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Okla., and the main card airs on AXS TV. In the headliner, reigning featherweight champion Kevin Aguilar (12-1) meets Justin Rader (7-2). Aguilar, a 28-year-old Texan, was the final Legacy FC champion, and following a merger with RFA and the creation of LFA, he beat Damon Jackson via knockout to win the inaugural belt

After almost an entire five rounds spent mostly in clinches against the fence, Odoms (13-3) managed to grab hold of Jared Vanderaa ’s (5-1) right arm and quickly twist it into a kimura hold that forced him to tap at the 2:45 mark of the final round of the title headliner. The 42-year-old Odoms became LFA’s first heavyweight champion, while Vanderaa, 17 years his junior, suffered the first loss of his career after finishing his first five opponents. LFA 15 took place at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

The card, which aired on AXS TV, took place at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Okla. Odoms paced himself throughout the five-round affair but turned it on when the opportunity presented itself, wrenching his opponent to the floor and locking in a painful kimura that left Vanderaa’s arm dangling. Additional impressive finishes included Braden Smith (7-1) downing Manuel Meraz (9-4) in the first round via D’Arce choke, as well Dan Moret (12-3) finishing Derrick Adkins (9-4) via arm-triangle choke with just one second remaining in the fight. The inaugural LFA heavyweight title will be on the line on June 30. Officials today announced the first fights for the card, which airs on AXS TV from FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Okla. In the headliner, Richard Odoms (12-3) or Jared Vanderaa (5-0) will become the organization’s first heavyweight titleholder. Odoms, a 42-year-old San Antonio police officer, recently made his LFA debut and scored a TKO victory over Willian Hoffmann. He’s now on a 4-1 run that includes three knockout victories. He takes on Vanderaa, a 25-year-old highly touted Californian who turned pro in 2015
