Bellator parts ways with nine fighters, including Roger Huerta, Brandon Girtz, and more

Nine fighters have parted ways with Bellator, including a pair of notable veterans. Bellator officials informed MMA Junkie that former UFC standout Roger Huerta and longtime featherweight Brandon Girtz are among those who have departed the promotion. It is unclear if each fighter was released or the promotion simply elected not to re-sign them. Scroll below to see the nine names who have parted ways with Bellator.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – It’s a well-known theory in MMA that fighters tend to get crabby when they’re cutting weight, up to and including when they step on the scale. And while that may have been the case for Brandon Girtz on Wednesday at the Bellator 250 official weigh-ins , it might not be what contributed to his brief verbal dustup with Mike Mazzulli, director of athletic regulations for the Mohegan Tribe and the man who oversees Bellator’s weigh-ins ahead of events at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. Girtz (16-9 MMA, 8-7 BMMA) stepped on the scale for his featherweight co-main event against Henry Corrales (17-5 MMA, 5-5 BMMA). Mazzulli announced his weight as 146 pounds – which is considered good to go in a non-title fight with the 1-pound allowance. Mazzulli then told Girtz he’d need to take his pants off and weigh in again.

Bellator 250 weigh-in results: Title challengers hit marks, but two miss weight – and one fight scrapped

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – MMA Junkie was on scene at Wednesday’s official Bellator 250 fighter weigh-ins, where two fighters missed their marks for Thursday’s card. Among those weighing in were welterweight champion Douglas Lima (32-7 MMA, 14-3 BMMA) and former middleweight champ Gegard Mousasi (46-7-2 MMA, 4-1 BMMA), who fight for the vacant 185-pound belt in the main event. Both fighters made championship weight. Two fighters came in over their contracted limits
