In Friday’s RFA 26 main event at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo., which aired on AXS TV, Gilbert Smith (11-4) dethroned Benjamin Smith (14-3) with the slick third-round submission . Check out the video highlights above. They also include Marcus Edwards ’ (10-3) decision victory over lightweight Thiago Alves Cavalcante Rodrigues (8-3), as well as heavyweight Ashley Gooch’s (8-4) first-round TKO of Brandon Griffin (4-1). RFA 26 results: Gilbert Smith taps out Benjamin Smith to take welterweight title

Gilbert Smith All it took was one mistake from Benjamin Smith , and RFA had a new welterweight champion. In the third round of the RFA 26 welterweight title main event, when Benjamin Smith tried to push off the cage and reverse position on Gilbert Smith , Gilbert snatched his arm, cranked, waited for the tap – and then got the 170-pound title wrapped around his waist. Gilbert, a UFC and “TUF 17″ veteran, got the tapout at the 3:27 mark of the third frame.
