‘TUF Brazil 1′ runner-up found dead in Florida

Former UFC featherweight Godofredo “Pepey” Castro was found dead in a Florida detention center on Sunday. He was 38 years old. Castro had been incarcerated since late June on allegations that he assaulted his wife, Samara Mello. He was facing charges that included kidnapping with bodily harm and intimidation of the victim, domestic assault by strangulation, obstruction of communication with the police, and domestic violence. The news of his passing was reported by friend and “TUF Brazil” teammate Rony Mariano Bezerra via social media

When former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira ‘s original UFC Rio opponent, Rafael Fiziev, was forced out of their bout due to injury, Mateusz Gamrot jumped at the opportunity to step in as a replacement. A win over Oliveira would have jumped Gamrot into contender status, so he took a gamble that did not pay off. Gamrot’s coach, Mike Brown , released a statement on Sunday addressing the loss.

It was a wild fight for as long as it lasted with Teixeira actually throwing a short punch that ricocheted off the side of Lewis’ face and seemingly left him struggling to see out of one eye.
