Legacy FC 51 It wasn’t supposed to happen that way, but Manuel Vazquez had other plans. Vazquez (8-1) took Friday’s bantamweight title fight against Ricardo Lucas Ramos (8-1) on three weeks’ notice when Augusto Mendes got a call from the UFC. Ramos, an unbeaten Brazilian, had been tearing through opponents – and was a heavy favorite to win Legacy FC’s vacant 135-pound belt.

The Legacy FC bantamweight title that Thomas Almeida left behind when he signed with the UFC will be up for grabs when the promotion heads to Minnesota in February. Augusto Mendes (5-0) will meet Ricardo Ramos (8-0) for the 135-pound strap in the main event of Legacy FC 51. Almeida vacated the belt in 2014, and after signing with the UFC he has remained unbeaten at 20-0 – including 4-0 in the UFC with fight-night bonuses in each bout. The card will take place Feb.

The Legacy FC main card featured six fights, and all six ended with stoppages, including the championship main event. Derrick Krantz Derrick Krantz captured the vacant Legacy FC welterweight championship with a crushing left hook in the third round of Brock Larson in the main event of Legacy FC 43. Larson (41-10) looked to lock in a kimura multiple times in the opening frame after Krantz (17-8) took the veteran down to the mat. Krantz did a good job of avoiding the submission and getting out of the round after spending much of the frame in top position. Round 2 started much the same way, with a Krantz takedown, but Larson was able to quickly get back to his feet. The stand-up action picked up considerably in the round with Larson throwing haymakers that connected at a decent clip and Krantz starting to fire back with his own looping power shots

Legacy FC 43 heads to Minnesota with Krantz-Larson title fight, Volkmann-Ottow

Brock Larson Legacy FC makes its Minnesota debut on July 17, and a title fight headlines the card. Legacy FC 43 takes place at Grand Casino Hinckley Hotel in Hinckley, Minn., and the main card airs on AXS TV. Legacy FC promoter/owner Mick Maynard today confirmed with MMAjunkie that Derrick Krantz (16-8) and Brock Larson (38-9) will headline the event and fight for the organization’s vacant welterweight title. Krantz, a former Bellator fighter who’s spent the bulk of his recent career with Legacy FC, looks for his third straight win. Most recently, the 27-year-old posted back-to-back submission wins over former UFC fighters Kyle Bradley and Daniel Roberts. He meets another UFC vet in Larson, a 37-year-old Minnesotan who’s won seven of his past nine fights while fighting for organizations such as BattleGrounds MMA, ONE FC and KOTC.
