Gilbert Smith All it took was one mistake from Benjamin Smith , and RFA had a new welterweight champion. In the third round of the RFA 26 welterweight title main event, when Benjamin Smith tried to push off the cage and reverse position on Gilbert Smith , Gilbert snatched his arm, cranked, waited for the tap – and then got the 170-pound title wrapped around his waist. Gilbert, a UFC and “TUF 17″ veteran, got the tapout at the 3:27 mark of the third frame.

Baghdad (11-3) unloaded the blows through the fight before scoring a crushing fourth-round knockout with the pinpoint-accurate elbows on opponent Zach Juusola (10-3). Mehdi Baghdad Late replacement Zach Juusola (10-3) proved a worthy adversary, but Mehdi Baghdad (11-3) claimed the RFA’s vacant lightweight belt with a crushing fourth-round knockout via elbow. The contest served as the headlining bout of Friday’s RFA 221 event, which took place at The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif., and aired on AXS TV. Juusola looked to take the fight to the floor early, but Baghdad showed ample takedown defense and answered with powerful low kicks. However, Juusola continued to push through the strikes and took the fight to the floor on a few different occasions. However, he struggled to keep the action on the canvas, as Baghdad worked quickly back to his feet each time
