Former UFC bantamweight Bryan Caraway has been charged with multiple felonies following an alleged insurance scam involving a vehicle belonging to former girlfriend and ex-UFC champion Miesha Tate. It is alleged Caraway, 36, purchased an insurance policy for a vehicle owned by Tate and claimed it was his. Then, three days later, he allegedly filed an insurance claim stating the vehicle had been stolen.. Caraway has been charged with forgery, first-degree attempted theft, filing a false insurance claim, and making a false statement on a vehicle application certificate of title. Bryan Caraway is calling on the MMA community to provide support at a difficult moment in his life. Caraway, a 10-fight UFC veteran, has opened a GoFundMe page to raise funds for his mother’s funeral. According to Caraway, he’s being putting in a very strenuous financial position as the impact from the coronavirus pandemic has filled up funeral homes and seemingly driven up prices. He is attempting to reach a goal of $12,000, with more than $4,000 already being raised. Currently a free agent, Caraway (22-9) departed the UFC in 2018 after losing two in a row to Cody Stamann and Pedro Munhoz. Caraway then competed for South Korean-based promotion, Battlefield Fighting Championship last July, defeating Raja Shippen via unanimous decision. However, Caraway said he never was paid his purse, joining UFC veterans Will Brooks and Gleison Tibau, who also competed on the card and never received any pay. He was then scheduled to face Marcos Breno at new Afro-French promotion ARES FC last December but was forced out due to injury. “The Ultimate Fighter 28” heavyweight winner Juan Espino is one of two fighters to receive potential six-month medical suspensions from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. NSAC officials today released the orders given following this past weekend’s The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale, which took place at Pearl Theatre in Las Vegas. Espino (9-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC), who submitted Justin Frazier (10-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) in their heavyweight tournament finale, will need to have an MRI on his right knee and receive clearance from orthopedic doctor if he hopes to return before May 30. Meanwhile, flyweight Alex Perez (21-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC), who suffered a first-round TKO loss to perennial contender Joseph Benavidez (26-5 MMA, 13-3 UFC), must get an X-ray on his right hand and also be cleared by an orthopedic doctor should he hope to return before May 30. The night’s welterweight headliners received minimal suspensions following their five-round clash , with winner Kamaru Usman sidelined for 30 days and Rafael dos Anjos , who came up on the wrong side of a unanimous decision, getting 60 days. TUF 28 Finale headliner Kamaru Usman picked up the biggest win of his career, and he had the night’s biggest payday to go with it. Usman (14-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) took a unanimous decision from former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos (28-11 MMA, 17-9 UFC) in the main event. For the win, Usman made a disclosed $150,000, including a $75,000 bonus for the victory. Dos Anjos took home $110,000 from the loss. The night’s other big payday went to Joseph Benavidez (26-5 MMA, 13-3 UFC) for his flyweight knockout win over Alex Perez (21-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) on the preliminary card.
