UFC flyweights Edgar Chairez, C.J. Vergara to collide in March

As 2024 winds down, the UFC is already booking three months into next year. A three-round flyweight bout between Edgar Chairez and C.J. Vergara is set for a UFC card on March 29. The frontrunner city to host this event is Mexico City, according to Claro Sports . Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Chairez (11-6 MMA, 1-2 UFC) aims to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to Josh Van in September

Rising Japanese flyweight Tatsuro Taira has his second UFC assignment. Taira (11-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will take on former Fury FC flyweight champion C.J. Vergara (10-3-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) on Oct. 15. The event does not currently have a publicly announced location or venue

LFA 40 highlights: Kevin Aguilar gets a KO worthy of AXS TV Fights’ 400th live broadcast

Kevin Aguilar made sure to give AXS TV Fights a big 400th birthday present on Friday night. In the LFA 40 main event, which was the 400th live broadcast for AXS TV Fights, Aguilar (14-1) defended his featherweight title with a gorgeous highlight-reel finish of interim champion Thanh Le (8-2) in the first round. Aguilar’s stoppage came just past the midway point of the round at the 2:44 mark and had Le seeing stars. Le missed a spinning back kick and Aguilar took advantage moments later with a massive right hand

In Friday’s RFA 41 headliner, Giles (7-0) picked up his seventh stoppage in seven career wins by choking out Josh Clark (9-3) via second-round rear-naked choke. Giles overcome a first-round deficit with his well-rounded skills; a bigger uppercut set up the fight-ending choke. RFA 41 took place at Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio, and the main card aired on AXS TV
