Errol Spence and Terence Crawford fight Saturday, but backstage at Friday’s weigh-ins, two other boxers engaged in a physical altercation. In a video posted by Michael Benson on Twitter, Caleb Plant smacked Jermall Charlo with an open hand, which audibly sounded throughout the vicinity and nearly ignited a brawl at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It’s unclear as to what specifically triggered the altercation prior to the strike.

Canelo Alvarez is set to return to the ring, which is usually bad news for the man who will see him standing across the ring. That man on Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas will be Caleb Plant , a capable, but moderately experienced fighter who is about an 8-1 underdog (average of multiple outlets). Does Plant have a reasonable chance of winning the pay-per-view fight for the undisputed super middleweight championship? Depends how you define “reasonable.” He is a quick, athletic boxer with an extensive amateur background and a high ring IQ. However, he’ll be face to face with a beast that is evolving into an all-time great and is in his prime. Tough assignment.

LAS VEGAS – UFC president Dana White knows a thing or two about brawls at press conferences. On Tuesday afternoon, a brawl broke out at the pre-fight press conference for an upcoming boxing match between Caleb Plant and Canelo Alvarez . White, if present, is usually the man standing between UFC fighters when they come face-to-face at press conferences and weigh-ins, but was confused as to why the promoters allowed the two boxers to get so close without someone standing between them should tempers flare. “I’m not surprised at ‘sh*t-Showtime’ those guys are great, they’re really good at what they do – from production, to press conferences, they’re f*cking awesome,” White said sarcastically during the Dana White’s Contender Series 40 post-fight news conference on Tuesday evening. “How long have you been in the business, that you would let two fighters go up to each other, face-to-face, without somebody there to try to (stop them).” The brawl between the two fighters was quick, but damage was caused to Plant’s right eye. Well, pre-fight brawls are certainly not exclusive to MMA. Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant got into a serious exchange at a pre-fight press conference at the The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, Calif. on Tuesday afternoon. The two got heated during their faceoff right before the presser. Plant seemed to get under the skin of Canelo with a few words, which got Canelo to shove Plant across the stage.
