Bocek-Prazeres, Clements-Thompson added to September’s UFC 165 in Toronto

The UFC’s September return to Toronto continues to fill out with a new pair of fights featuring two Canadians added to the bill. Mark Bocek (11-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) will meet Michel Prazeres (16-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) in a lightweight bout, and Chris Clements (11-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) takes on Stephen Thopmson (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at welterweight. Joe Ferraro of Canada’s Sportsnet first brought word of the two new fight bookings, which subsequently were confirmed by UFC officials. UFC 165 takes place Sept. 21 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The main card airs on pay-per-view and features a light-heavyweight title fight between champion Jon Jones and challenger Alexander Gustafsson .Prelims will air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on Facebook.

WINNIPEG – After three rounds vying with James Krause’s sizable reach advantage, Sam Stout nabbed a takedown, likely hoping to curry favor with judges. Instead, he found himself trapped in a guillotine choke that allowed short-notice replacement Krause to secure his first-ever octagon win. The lightweight bout was part of today’s UFC 161 event at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. It aired on FX after additional prelims on Facebook and ahead of a pay-per-view main card. London, Ontario, native Stout cursed himself as the two separated and the final bell rang. With several Canadians coming out ahead on scorecards, he might have taken home a close win. Krause peppered him throughout the fight with a stiff jab and brought out a variety of well-timed kicks that found their target. Late in the first, a sneaky high kick slammed into Stout’s head and splattered the two of them in blood as they worked on the mat.

Two of 15,000 Canadian fans hope Dustin Pague will beat Yves Jabouin at UFC 161

Dustin Pague (11-7 MMA, 1-3 UFC) very well could be cut from the UFC if he loses his fight to Yves Jabouin (18-8 MMA, 3-2 UFC) at UFC 161. Since his time on “The Ultimate Fighter 14,” he’s gone 1-3 inside the octagon. But the bantamweight veteran believes he’s got the type of matchup that will help him turn things around, even if the crowd at MTS Centre in Winnipeg might not be on the same page. Jabouin, after all, is a Canadian (by way of Haiti), and it’s a fair bet he’ll get the cheers. “But I have two fans on Twitter that are rooting for me, so I’m pumped about that,” Pague told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “Two Canadians. They said they’re going outside the box and rooting for me. Two Canadians out of 15,000.” Jabouin and Pague open the Facebook-streamed preliminary card of the event, which takes place Saturday, prior to FX-televised prelims and the pay-per-view main card

Canada Officially Joins the TUF Fray with The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia

The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Friday revealed the next international version of its reality series The Ultimate Fighter. Australia is once again involved, but this time the Aussie fighters will go up against a team of Canadians in The Ultimate Fighter Nations. “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” said UFC president Dana White in announcing the next international season of TUF. “We’re doing The Ultimate Fighter Canada versus Australia, the coaches will be Patrick Cote and Kyle Noke, and we’re taking welterweights, 170-pounders. Finally got it done. Been wanting to do this for a long time, long overdue.” Canadian Patrick Cote and Aussie Kyle Noke are both former cast members of the series. Cote appeared on the show in 2006 during The Ultimate Fighter: The Comeback, while Noke was a member of Chuck Liddell’s team during The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz, the eleventh season of the show
