Cage Warriors has a new Irish champion. In today’s Cage Warriors 81 headliner, Belfast’s Karl Moore (8-1) scored a decision victory over American counterpart Josh Clark (10-4) to claim the organization’s vacant light-heavyweight title. The event took place at 3Arena in Dublin, and the main card streamed on UFC Fight Pass. Moore, a 2-1 favorite heading into the bout, used a patient strategy bolstered by counter-punches, overall ground control and the occasional firefight to top “The Hillbilly Heartthrob.” Clark, perhaps best known for his short run on “The Ultimate Fighter 19,” fought off rear-naked chokes at the end of both the first and second rounds

Calderwood survived a rough opening minute of the fight and walked away with a well-deserved unanimous-decision win over late replacement Cortney Casey , who took the fight on just 10 days’ notice. Calderwood (10-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was originally slated to face “The Ultimate Fighter 20” competitor Bec Rawlings, but the bout was scrapped for a second time when Rawlings suffered a training injury.

The Polish star crushed former Invicta FC champ Jessica Penne on the feet en route to a third-round TKO win. Jedrzejczyk (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) made a big statement to the rest of the strawweight division in March when she brutally knocked out then-champion Carla Esparza at UFC 185, and her victory over the well-rounded Penne (12-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was arguably even more impressive. Invicta FC 13 official with three title fights headlining, including Justino vs. Van Duin

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino International Fight Week has added three more title fights as Invicta FC 13 will see the atomweight, bantamweight and featherweight titles all put on the line. The card was originally announced for July 10 in Las Vegas, one day ahead of UFC 189, also in Las Vegas. However, Invicta FC announced via press release that the event will now take place on July 9. Cristiane Justino (13-1) will defend her featherweight championship in the main event when she takes on Faith Van Duin (5-1). Van Duin made her Invicta FC debut in April, submitting Amanda Bell with a rear-naked choke in the second round at Invicta FC 12. Justino has won three straight fights in the promotion, all via TKO

Redmond composed with takedowns and ground and pound Lobov, Garnett earn stoppage wins In a thrilling featherweight bout, 2-1 underdog Artem Lobov (10-10), nicknamed “The Prospect Killer,” was nearly pounded out by Andrew Fisher (12-7-1) in the first round. However, he rallied to even up the fight through two rounds and then score a TKO stoppage in the final second of the final round. Lobov unloaded a barrage of punches on his kneeling opponent to force the referee’s intervention. In light-heavyweight action, Karl Moore (8-4) and Lloyd Clarkson (6-6) engaged in a 15-minute slugfest that left both badly bloodied.

Lineup takes shape for ‘Cage Warriors 70: Duffy vs. Lapilus’ on Aug. 16

The lineup is nearly complete for next month’s Cage Warriors 70 event, which streams live on MMAjunkie. The event takes place Aug. 16 at The Helix in Dublin, a city that recently hosted the successful UFC Fight Night 46 event. Headlining the event is Irish lightweight Joseph Duffy (10-1), who owns a previous win over fast-rising UFC featherweight contender Conor McGregor (watch it below). After taking some off from MMA for a 7-0 pro-boxing run, he returns to the MMA cage for the first time since 2011 when he meets Damien Lapilus (9-3-1), a Frenchman who makes his Cage Warriors debut after a recent 4-0-1 run.

Ivan Buchinger (25-4) capped off the event, which streamed on MMAjunkie from The Helix in Dublin, in suitable fashion and captured the Cage Warriors lightweight championship from Stevie Ray (14-5) after four rounds of action.

James Brum vs. Marat Pekov among changes to three Cage Warriors cards in December

A busy month for Cage Warriors Fighting Championship has seen a few changes to close out the promotion’s busiest year ever. Cage Warriors will put on three shows this month: Cage Warriors 62 takes place Saturday in Newcastle, England. On Dec. 13, the promotion travels to Amman, Jordan, for Cage Warriors 61 (that card kept its original numbering after a cancellation earlier this fall).
