The fans at CES MMA 37, whihc took place at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I., with a main card on AXS TV, got to see three stoppage wins in those title fights – and finishes in all but one fight on the entire card. And to open the main card, Ashley Gooch got a come-from-behind knockout of Greg Rebello to capture the vacant heavyweight crown

When he enters the confines of competition, however, his goal is to inflict damage on another human being, which is quite the contrast. Pingitore (6-2-1), who fights Matt Bessette (19-7) for the vacant CES MMA featherweight title at Friday’s CES MMA 37 event, works as an emergency medical technician (EMT) as his primary means of living. When he’s not doing that, though, Pingitore is in the gym training for his career as a professional fighter. Although one job requires him to help people and the other requires him to hurt people, Pingitore said there’s no strangeness or inner conflict to his situation

In the new co-main event, Joe Pingitore (6-2-1) gets a shot at a title when he meets Matt Bessette (19-7) for the vacant featherweight belt, the promotion today announced.

Tragedy strikes Friday’s CES MMA 37 event with fighter dead following car accident

Massachusetts fighter Devin Carrier , 21, died over the weekend in a single-car crash, less than one week before he was scheduled to compete at Friday’s CES MMA 37 event at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I. The accident was first reported by South Coast Today . “Everyone is very shaken up,” CES MMA rep Ed Kapp stated in an email to MMAjunkie. “He was just 21 years old and was a joy to work with.” CES MMA 37’s main card airs on AXS TV. Carrier (1-1) was expected to face Connor Barry (1-0), who will not get a new opponent for the card, on the evening’s unaired preliminary card. Carrier made his professional debut in November 2015 with a decision loss to Sean Nichols under the Cage Titans FC

For professional wrestling fans of a certain age, the memory of The 1-2-3 Kid’s shocking upset of Razor Ramon on the May 17, 1993 episode of WWF Raw sticks out in their mind as a formative moment in their fandom. That’s certainly true of Chuck O’Neil , a man who went on serve as a cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 13 and multiple title reigns on the regional MMA scene. O’Neil (16-8) now competes in CES MMA, where he won the welterweight title from fellow UFC veteran Ricardo Funch and defended it successfully once before dropping the belt to current UFC fighter Dominique Steele. When he isn’t competing in MMA, O’Neil is working on his burgeoning job as a professional wrestler, a career choice easily traced back to Sean Waltman’s moonsault that propelled him from “jobber” to world stage fixture. “I saw a Saturday afternoon episode of WWF television back in the day and saw 1-2-3 Kid beat Razor Ramon,” O’Neil told MMAjunkie.

Matt Bessette gets new opponent for CES MMA 37′s championship co-headliner

Matt Bessette has a new opponent for next month’s CES MMA 37’s co-main event. With Pedro Gonzalez (11-5) injured, Bessette (19-7) will now fight replacement Stephen Cervantes (6-1), officials today announced. CES MMA 37, which features three title fights, takes place Aug. 12 at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I., and the main card airs on AXS TV. Bessette, a former Bellator fighter, is riding a four-fight winning streak. The 31-year-old, who scored a submission victory over Ran Weathers at CES MMA 36, has six wins in his past seven fights, and they all came via stoppage.

A trio of belts will be up for grabs in August at CES MMA 37. Officials announced three title fights, two of which are for vacant belts, for the Aug. 12 event, which airs on AXS TV from Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I. In the headliner, reigning bantamweight champion Andre Soukhamthath (10-3) rematches challenger Kin Moy (10-3). The fighters first met in January 2014 at CES MMA 21, and Moy earned a unanimous-decision victory. Since then, Soukhamthath is 3-1, which included a recent title-winning flying-knee knockout of Kody Nordby
