LFA is headed back to Dallas next month, and an interim featherweight title will be on the line. Damon Jackson (15-2-1) is set to meet Nate Jennerman (12-3) in the LFA 47 main event, promotion officials recently announced. LFA featherweight champion Kevin Aguilar fought this past week on Dana White’s Contender Series 12 trying to get a UFC contract. The lineup is set for March’s LFA 35 event, which features some familiar names. LFA 35 takes place March 9 at Arena Theatre in Houston, and the main card air on AXS TV. In the main event, Sabina Mazo (4-0), who scored highlight-reel head-kick knockout wins in her past two bouts, takes on Silvana Gomez Juarez (6-1) for the inaugural LFA women’s flyweight title. Mazo, a 20-year-old Colombian fighter now based in California, stopped Jamie Thorton and Linsey Williams with first-round head-kick knockouts in 2017 LFA fights. Leandro Higo had to survive a scary moment against Steven Peterson late in the first round. And though he may have thought he was on his way to an easy LFA inaugural bantamweight title win, he had to put in some work to get the belt. Higo (17-2) busted Peterson (14-5) up on the feet in the first round and bloodied him up – but then went for a takedown seemingly out of nowhere. Peterson took advantage and caught him in a guillotine choke that looked tight. But Higo stayed patient, worked out of it, got to the second round, then went back to work. And though he did solid work each round the rest of the way, Peterson never quite went away in Higo’s unanimous decision sweep.
