LFA 18 took place at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Okla., and the main card aired on AXS TV. In the main event, featherweight champion Kevin Aguilar (13-1) retained his bout with a unanimous-decision clean sweep of Justin Rader (6-3) while scoring 50-45 tallies across the board. It was “not an overly exciting fight,” as cageside commentator Pat Miletich put it.

Justin Rader had two things in mind in his quest to become LFA’s featherweight champion against titleholder Kevin Aguilar : kicks and takedowns. The kicks were mostly there throughout for Rader (6-3). The takedowns, not so much, and Aguilar (13-1) retained his 145-pound title with a unanimous decision victory in the LFA 18 main event – despite some solid moments from the challenger throughout the five-round fight.

The lineup is taking shape for next month’s LFA 18 event, which features a title fight and an MMA journalist/recent UFC competitor. Officials today announced the event takes place Aug. 4 at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Okla., and the main card airs on AXS TV. In the headliner, reigning featherweight champion Kevin Aguilar (12-1) meets Justin Rader (7-2). Aguilar, a 28-year-old Texan, was the final Legacy FC champion, and following a merger with RFA and the creation of LFA, he beat Damon Jackson via knockout to win the inaugural belt

Filed under: AXS TV Fights , News The inaugural LFA featherweight championship fight was a relatively uneventful affair – until it wasn’t. Kevin Aguilar (12-1) emerged victorious in the first LFA featherweight title bout when he put Damon Jackson (11-2-1) to sleep with a violent one-punch knockout in the main event of Friday’s LFA 4 headliner at Horseshoe Bossier City Hotel and Casino Bossier City, Lou. Aguilar came out sharp early when he buckled Jackson’s legs with a jab in the opening moments of the fight. The bout slowed to a grinding halt shortly thereafter, with several uneventful exchanges both in the striking and grappling apartment.

Caros Fodor WSOF is in Memphis for Saturday’s WSOF 27 event. The fight card marks the first time the promotion has visited “The Volunteer State” of Tennessee. While the event is absent any international MMA stars, it is heavy on local talent, with the majority of the competing fighters hailing from either Arkansas or Tennessee. In the main event, Caros Fodor , who has fought for Strikeforce, ONE Championship and the UFC, faces former PRIDE fighter Luiz Firmino , who is on a five-fight winning streak, including two straight victories in WSOF.
