Today, we take a look at the history of Bellator’s first champions in each weight class. Bellator’s first tournament season ended with the crowning of the first four champions in the history of the promotion. Joe Soto took possession of the lightweight crown at Bellator 10 with a second-round submission win over Yahir Reyes. Lyman Good acquired the welterweight title one week later with a first-round TKO win over Omar De La Cruz at Bellator 11

Straus (23-5 MMA, 9-2 BMMA), who lost his title to Pat Curran in March, needed just 50 seconds to land the left hand and follow-up punches that would earn him the win over Wilcox (14-7 MMA, 3-2 BMMA). Bellator 127 took place at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif. The event’s main card aired live on Spike TV following prelims on Spike.com.

Bellator MMA had made five announcements of upcoming cards for its 10th season, but had left off one date – until now. The promotion will open its season with Bellator 110 on Spike TV at Mohegan Sun in Uncassville, Conn., on Feb. 28 with a four-man light-heavyweight tournament featuring Quinton Jackson (33-11 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) vs. Christian M’Pumbu (18-5-1 MMA, 3-2 BMMA) and Muhammed Lawal (11-3 MMA, 3-2 BMMA) vs. Mikhail Zayats (22-7 MMA, 3-1 BMMA)
