Two new champions were crowned at Friday’s LFA 37 event, but did one of them come from an early stoppage? The event took place at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., and the main card aired on AXS TV. In the co-headliner, “Head Kick Queen” Sabina Mazo (5-0) didn’t land one of her patented high kicks , but she did cruise to a win over tough but overmatched Shannon Sinn (5-6). As cageside commentator Pat Miletich mentioned, Mazo never really got out of second gear – because she didn’t need to. Mazo cruised to a striking-heavy win via shutout 50-45 scores across the board. She picked up the organization’s vacant women’s flyweight title with the performance.

LFA has lined up a pair of title fights at the top of the bill for its return to South Dakota next month. LFA 37 will take place April 20 at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

‘LFA 19: Michaud vs. Rodrigues’ slated for Aug. 18 in South Dakota

LFA is returning to South Dakota in August. Officials today announced LFA 19 is slated for Aug. 18 at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, a South Dakota city that has already hosted two LFA 19 events in 2017. The main card airs on AXS TV. In the LFA 19 headliner, David Michaud (11-3) takes on fellow welterweight Ciro Rodrigues (20-7). Michaud, who went 1-2 during a 2014-2015 UFC stint that included a spot on “The Ultimate Fighter 16,” looks for his fourth win in five fights.

Victory FC 53 loses Mike Rhodes-Ron Stallings title fight, Jeff Curran vs. Raufeon Stots now headlines

Tonight’s Victory FC 53 lineup got a major change to the main card, but will plow forward with six fights. Middleweight champion Mike Rhodes (10-4) was set to defend his title for the first time against UFC veteran Ron Stallings (14-8) in the main event. But Rhodes had to withdraw from the fight due to illness, the promotion announced, making the new headliner a bantamweight bout between Jeff Curran (36-17-1), a veteran of the UFC, Bellator, Strikeforce, WEC and PRIDE, and Raufeon Stots (6-0). Mike Rhodes Victory FC 53 takes place tonight at Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in Waterloo, Iowa. The main card streams on UFC Fight Pass.

Legacy FC 51 results: Vazquez shocks Ramos for 135 title; Brock Larson retires from MMA

Legacy FC 51 It wasn’t supposed to happen that way, but Manuel Vazquez had other plans. Vazquez (8-1) took Friday’s bantamweight title fight against Ricardo Lucas Ramos (8-1) on three weeks’ notice when Augusto Mendes got a call from the UFC. Ramos, an unbeaten Brazilian, had been tearing through opponents – and was a heavy favorite to win Legacy FC’s vacant 135-pound belt.
