The promotion is going big for the event with two title fights, including a long-awaited middleweight title defense from two-division champion David Branch . Branch meets Clifford Starks in the headlining bout in what will be the second defense of his 185-pound crown. In Saturday’s WSOF 30 headliner on NBCSN, where he meets surging middleweight champion David Branch (17-3) at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Starks (13-2) looks to maintain some momentum of his own. After a UFC-debut win over Dustin Jacoby in 2011, Starks suffered back-to-back losses to vet Ed Herman and contender Yoel Romero, and the UFC handed him his pink slip in 2013. Since then, though, Starks has posted a 5-0 record at middleweight and light heavyweight while fighting for Bellator and WSOF. WSOF 30 targeted for April 2 at Downtown Las Vegas Events Center

David Branch WSOF’s return to the promotion’s home base in Las Vegas appears to be set for April 2, as the company recently contacted the Nevada State Athletic Commission and requested to reserve that date at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. The request will be heard at the NSAC’s next monthly meeting, which is scheduled for Feb. 17 in Las Vegas. WSOF officials declined to comment on the proposed date when contacted by MMAjunkie. However additional people with knowledge of the negotiations said the promotion is expected to make an announcement in the near future. Those people spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to publicly discuss such matters.

Included in the mix are UFC veterans Isaac Vallie-Flagg , Estevan Payan and Clifford Starks . WSOF officials recently announced the fights for the show in Phoenix. WSOF 23 takes place Sept. 18 at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix.
